Frankly i'm amazed some people are advising reading a copy of your scans. Firstly, let me say that trained radiologists are often reluctant to look at and make comments on CT results unless they performed the scan themselves. The reasons being that the slices on CT imaging are often upto 8mm thick, which means not all the tissue has hard copy.
Secondly, how would you be able to compare with a previous set of scans to see how the disease had progressed, and would you actually be able to identify any internal structures to decide where the potential lesions are?
Thirdly, many lesions on CT can be difficult to spot when the individual reviewing them is fully trained and qualified, so any advice on here is frankly ridiculous.
Finally, if you have a copy of your scans (then you must have gone private or be in America), then this must mean they have been reported. If this is the case, and you are truely worried, speak to the doctor to see if you can't have your appointment expedited and get told the information by a trained clinician.

If I remember right,The denser the tissue is the darker it will appear. Cancer that is dense, are usually tumors. He may have scattered areas, those are usually mets or small tumors. Look to see if any of the surrounding tissue has been displaced or pushed aside, that will tell you if there is a large involvement. How is his mental status, and breathing? That will probably tell you more than the CT scan.

. Rather than worry about it I would go back to the hospital with the results and ask someone to explain them to me.It is not the same but when I was told my baby was breach I didn't believe the doctor took my self down to the scan dept and asked if they would re do it so that I could see and understand it for myself, they were happy to oblige. She was breach so I asked for an ex ray on my pelvis to see if I was capable of giving birth to her naturally, the result was good and I did.

All the best to your friend's dad...I advise asking a doctor or nurse (even a clinic receptionist) and not folks on here, who may post an answer without actually knowing!
