I might be buying a brand new house, and just wondering what the choices are for your new home: like, what kind of cabinets, countertops, hard wood floor, carpet, color of the shutters/door, hardware, door handels, jacuzzi tub, and anything else...
If you also know about how much more a month for upgrades, that would be great!

The house only has siding and internal frame work. The builder stopped building to find a buyer... and then the new buyer makes choices... but specifically what are those choices?

The contractor has paper work on the upgrades available and the price. When you go to the office of a new subdivision you can get that paperwork and the styles of houses they offer. You can choose different cabinets, fireplaces, fireplace fronts, two sinks, garden tubs, bay windows, garden windows, plant shelf ledges, valted ceilings, finished basements, rough-in basement plumbing, ect... The style of the home will determine what they offer. The costs do add up quick! Pick what is most important to you and do some of the work yourself. I can't give you prices because different areas will determine this. When we were looking 6 months ago I believe they wanted $3,500 to add on a fireplace(St. Louis). I am very picky so we paid the same for an older home with lots more land and a pool. I can redo and decorate it any way I want since it was old and outdated.

At that stage of construction the choices are almost all yours. Within budget constraints, you can pick counter-tops, kitchen appliances, wall colors and whether to paint or paper, what use of wood, tile, or vinyl or laminate flooring. The choices are almost endless. That would be a wonderful opportunity to actually make the house"yours" from the beginning.

If you decide to build, remember:
Closet space, closet space, closet space, and closet space.
Congratulations!
EDIT: You will probably pick out the cabinetry, hardware, paint colors, carpet, basically everything you listed. Your builder should provide you with a list of what you need to choose. As far as how much for the upgrades, that all depends on what you pick out. For example, kitchen cabinets can range from $8,000 to $20,000 or more. It all depends on what you want. Be careful though, it all starts to add up. You may want to make a grand total limit of how much you want to spend before you start selecting what you want and go from there.

Technically, you will no longer own the domicile till after the remaining. Thats once you initiate paying the non-public loan and coverage, and so on. in the past that the builder owns it. I truthfully have by no ability heard of a builder remaining on a clean domicile in the past that's totally complete. an identical is going for coverage- you're able to insure it beginning up the day you incredibly close on the valuables and own it. Your taxes for this 300 and sixty 5 days would be for unimproved sources, basically an empty lot. It does no longer be till next 300 and sixty 5 days while your sources is re assesed which you would be taxed for having the domicile on it (which will in all probability enhance your taxes because of the fact the value of the land would be bigger with the domicile on it).

You have all he choices if you have hired somwone to build. If you buying a new construction in a new housing development, choices become less as they are pumped out fairly quick.
