Because the addage is true - you can take the girl/ man out of Sodom but you can not take the teachings of Sodom out of the man/ girl. Repentance changes everyone, yet this is not what we are speaking of here.
The reason they got him drunk was to preserve the family line. Not a good way to do it, nor biblical, but the Bible is not an edited book it shows the depth of depravity along with the heights of heaven, we see the story, its horribleness and we ponder and discuss why, O God did you let this record stand, to show that God sees all and knows all and does not approve of all that he sees, but is gracious and merciful, slow to anger abounding in love, compassionate.

God saved Lot and his daughters because Abraham begged for the few good people in Soddam and Gomorrah. Lot, his wife and his daughters were not the best of people but because God loved Abraham and called him friend Lot and his daughters were saved.
The Bible said the daughters wanted children and the men of Soddam and Gomorrah were all gone. It was the evil thought of the daughters and not Lot. In the Bible you will find quite a few ungodly people.

They were cursed with being withou child and not able to bear...they'd probably tried it with everything with a thing... they knew he'd say no without being drunk so yes the alc. was nec....sounds like a couple of nasty girls.

They thought they were the only people left on earth after watching their city completely destroyed. So they thought he was the only man left and they were the only two women and they wanted to start repopulating the earth.

Abraham and Sarah had the same problem.
Wait on God and do it his way and things turn out much better in the end.
