I take depakote er for epilepsy. . .i missed taking my meds for nearly two weeks. Should i talk to my doctor before restarting them or should i go ahead and start taking them again. I have missed before but not like this. Would it be bad for me to go ahead and take them full tilt again. . .or will there be bad side affects. I am scared to start them again but I know I need to be taking them. . .i just don't want to have any recurring siezures. And I am tired of gaining weight. . .i lost 16lbs. . .and am still losing. . .i want to be a healthy weight again. Half the problem was my medication. If I stop taking the meds I could have siezures again. . .if start them after not taking them could I have even bigger problems. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not stop taking the medication even if you feel better. It is important to take Depakote regularly to prevent seizures from recurring.
I would advise you to see your Doctor immediately and to stick to your medication instead of thinking about weight, better to be alive and a little over weight than being skinny and dead.
Also, talk to your Doc about using a different medication instead of Dekapote.

I think you should definitely talk to your doctor. He/she'll be able to tell you if you need to reduce the dosage since you've missed them for so long. You should also tell your doctor your concerns about your weight gain and ask if you could try an alternate medication that might be less likely to make you gain weight.
