Absolutely....the flour makes a fantastic crust. I use whatever is in my pantry at the time. Here's an old family secret........we dip the meat in buttermilk then dip it into, and cover completely with, flour. For some extra crunchiness, dip in buttermilk again and then again in the flour. You may want to add some of your seasonings to the flour, like your garlic salt and pepper, and make certain the oil is hot enough before you place the meat into it. Cook and then drain on plenty of paper towels to remove excess grease.

I usually use wonder flour, but I have used Self Rising flour and it turned out just fine! U have nothing to worry about..

Yes. I tried it once for a Cajun Chicken recipe and I really liked it. In fact I prefer it over regular flour because it gives a better coating. It's what they usually use for really good fried chicken to give it a plump crispy coating. You can add seaonings to it too. I add garlic salt and pepper for extra flavor.
