Ok, so I think I got some people confused the first time I asked.
This is what I say:
Really. I mean It's almost like racism, but because the believers are of mixed races it isn't considered to be.
Here are my explanations:
1) By "almost like racism" I meant that christians are looking at others, whether believers of other religion or disbelievers, as the confused ones, or not accepting them at all.
2) I brought the "mixed races" part because if christians were of only one race, let's say white, than there would be a question about that this is only the "white man's" religion, but because it's a mix race religion, nobody can touch it.

"Christians promote their religion because they were commanded to; Christ told us, "Go forth, and make disciples of all nations." (Matthew 28:19)" So that's what all the wars started from hm......

I promote a relationship with the creator of the universe, not a religion.
people I talk to are often surprised when I bring up "Jesus".
Here's my personal motives:
-Love
-My calling
-Care for hurting people
-Desire to see them be happy
If you don't want to hear it, don't listen. People have a right to teach and preach.

I think I understand what you mean by "almost like racism". it is a form of discrimination -- Christians like to claim that they are being persecuted for their faith, but really what is happening (at least in America) is that they are the ones who are doing the persecuting. They may feel persecution right now because people of other faiths are now fighting back and demanding equal treatment -- so Christians are losing some of the priviledges that they stole in the first place.
Christians do tend to look at other faiths as less than their own--this latest flap about a Muslim Senator wishing to use the Quran instead of the Bible for the swearing in photo op (incidentally, it's just a photo op) is evidence of it. The US Constitution clearly states that there shall be no test or requirement of faith for office -- yet they are ticked that someone of another faith wishes to use a text which is considered sacred in his faith rather than their precious Bible. I'm more honored that this senator takes his oath seriously and would rather swear on something he holds sacred rather than something he cares not a lick about.
As for why they are trying to promote their religion, it's because that is what their sacred text tells them to do. (But my personal belief is that they are insecure in their faith--and unless you and the government validate their god, they have a harder time with things)

When a person understands in his heart that The way, truth and life is in Jesus.
He is elated. He wants to share that with you.
It was for him a personal thing, as it was for many others.
They at first become a pain in the butt.
The non believer says, here he comes again, run for the hills.
When is this guy going to stop. I don't want to hear it.
The elation is highly emotional. After a while he starts to calm down. It is called maturing. Then He realizes that it is God who is out looking for the lost sheep and he doesn't have to.
If God wishes to use a person to say something to someone, He does. It doesn't mean beat them over the head.
I have heard the term Bible thumper.
Yes a Christian uses the Bible as a tool as the truth. He realizes that the Bible is the truth and is God. Perhaps he looses the reality that other don't have that belief.
I have tried to share what it is with us. I hope I was somewhat successful.

Christians promote their religion because they were commanded to; Christ told us, "Go forth, and make disciples of all nations." (Matthew 28:19) Further, as Doug said above, if you don't want to hear it, don't listen; it's your soul.

Some Christians see it as their duty to promote His work. That's what Jesus was doing. That's what was commanded of his followers. Hope that answers that.

Christ commanded that His Gospel be preached to the whole world, unfortunately it is dogmatic persecution that is preached by many Christians instead,Jesus preached love and compassion, some people preach with their own agenda`s.
