Im leaning towards the a630 but the c875 is a lot cheaper. Im buying a new camera this week and still having trouble deciding. Also if you have any other suggestions that would be great. Thanks for responding.

Edit: Zoom range isn't a big factor for me. I want to take creative, artsy pictures and record video on it. I also want a good camera for parties and indoor use. But the main factor for me is picture quality. And I have about $300 to spend on a new camera. I'm also a beginner, but eventually become a photography hobbiest.

The Canon features might not seem much at the moment but as you improve your skills you will want that added functionality.
also when you are ready to upgrade to comething more professional , the features and look/feel of the camera will have you ready for a Canon Digital Rebel

A630 no second thought. Kodaks are really bad compared to Canon. Kodak lacks in picture quality, style, and body quality. Canon hands down. I wasted $300 on a Kodak that really sucked, never went back got myself a Canon.

i might ask you to evaluate the Canon A630 as a nearer experience for the Kodak. The Kodak extremely looks like a superb digicam - in accordance to specs in easy terms, as I have not got any adventure with it - whether it lacks an optical viewfinder. in case you could cope with that, it incredibly is obviously priced extra favorably. super liquid crystal demonstrate viewfinders eat batteries. it kind of feels superb to have a brilliant liquid crystal demonstrate visual demonstrate unit, yet howdy are potential hungry. you will could do what you could to tutor the element off as quickly as you do no longer desire it any extra. Set it to close off on the shortest conceivable innterval once you're taking the photograph. Set it so as that it does not no longer demonstrate until eventually you faucet the shutter button to wake it up. Even this would possibly not bypass an prolonged way in the direction of keeping batteries.

Check out the Canon SD600. 6MP, great photos. Price is ~$220. Canon is the best camera manufacturer on the market. Kodak makes great film. I can not say the same for their digital cameras.

I have a Canon 510 and it's been real good.

I would take a Canon anything over the Kodak

Kodak shouldn't be in your vocabulary unless it's for 35mm film.
You might consider Sony brand which I own or a Fugi which I bought for my daughter for $238- 5MP and 10x optical zoom. BUT if that's your 2 choices go for the Canon.
