There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:

Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

Okay, I can most confidently tell you that your boyfriend is allergic to dustmites. Dark circles under the eyes, especially after a good long sleep are a symptom of allergies.

Take a look at his bedroom. Here is the plan:

1. How old are his pillows? Older than 5 years old? Throw them away and buy new ones. After a pillow is 10 years old, 1/2 of the pillow's weight is dust mites and their POOP! Seriously.
Dust mites are tiny microscopic bugs that love to live in pillows and paper. Best NOT to buy feather or down pillows. Dustmites love feathers.

2. Once he has new pillows, cover them with a dustmite-proof pillowcase. If there are any dustmites, their feces can't get into his nostrils that way.

3. If he has books or paper in his room ANYWHERE (posters, magazines, books, newspapers, homework) move them into plastic bags or boxes and move them into another room.

4. Vaccuum the room and dust the furniture, then vaccuum again.

5. Wash all his covers, blankets and sheets in HOT water once a week. This kills dustmites.

Have him start taking claritin for inhaled allergies, or have him go to the allergy doc to get some prescription meds.

There you go....He will be better in no time.

There is nothing that truly reduces the dark circles. Eat will, drink water, exercise, and don't smoke weed.

Might be a bit of a long shot, but does he eat too much wheat-based products?
