It depends on the person. I read the Bible twice, and compared scriptures, and deciphered certain meanings of verses that I did not understand, and ultimately this is what led me to change my beleifs, because there are many contradictions, and you are still left with the question of "What does God really want?" Should I take this literally, or not. This preacher says to, this one doesn't, they are both men of God, so who's right? I even attempted to learn Greek so that I could interpret the original text, but you would have to become fluent in ANCIENT Greek, and that's very difficult to do. And even then some books have been taken out of the Bible, so how is one to know the whole truth from it. I have since then searched for the answers inside myself and found them.So no, I'm not scared at all.

Nope. I think if I had been scared, I would have stayed a Christian. Obviously that didn't happen. I'm a non-believer because of too many unanswered questions, no personal experiences, and there are some things about Christianity that I have moral issues with. It just isn't for me. But I'm thrilled to hear it's working for you.

Dude, I read the bible and found it to be hilarious.
So full of errors, contradictions, and severely warped messages (like advocating beating or even killing your kids).
Once heard that the bible was the #1 atheist maker out there.
One day, christians are going to get together and update the bible to try to fix it so that it is not so embarrassing to them. Here is a hint, get Stephen King or John Grisham to write it. Even better J.K. Rowling has finished working on Harry Potter. She could make a pretty popular bible.

It's more likely that the Christians are the ones who are scared. They are the only ones who say that people go to hell for not believing. Are you all scared INTO believing?

No, if anything, the Bible contributed to my not believing, because it made NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. It contradicted itself on every other page. The people in the Bible all exhibited symptoms of schizophrenia. (Hearing voices, hallucinations) It convinced me that the people who wrote it were all simply crazy people who just managed to write an interesting book about their delusions.

I am a non-believer who has read the Bible. I can tell you, no quicker way to becoming an Atheist than by reading the Bible. No quicker way to ease your fears. It doesn't add up and I am totally relieved. But thanks for asking.
