I'm a bit confused about this, I got suburnt recently, just really mildly, and my shoulders are starting to peel. I've been taking off the peeling skin as it comes, but i'm curious as to how much of the peeling skin are we meant to take off, the parts that are falling off themselves, or the parts that are about to fall off as well?

So yeah can anyone tell me what we are meant to do, and why we should do it?

I'm also planning to go back to the beach tomorrow or soon to fix up the tan line, is this a good or bad idea while there are still some parts on my shoulders that are going to peel off in say a day or two.

I don't think you should interfere any more then washing with a terry cloth wash cloth, you can promote scarring or possibly if skin is removed before ready maybe even infection or irritation.
It'll get very itchy and drive you nuts so be careful scratching. A sunburn should be treated as any other burn, your skin will be fresh and new under neath and when the dead skin falls away you'll still be very sensitive to the sun , when you go out sunbathing again. Once you see a tan developing, you'll take the sun better, but should use the sunblocks and take it easy.
Always begin gradual , if you are fair skin or sunbath only on vacations, be extra cautious. .

I was like a lobster so I have experience! lol. It is ok to take off the skin that is peeling off, like the loose stuff. But when you start peeling and it starts to hurt, you're pulling up healing skin and it will take longer for your skin to heal. Try putting aloe on it. I recommend Banana Boat Aloe..its green =) It doesn't sting and it cools you off. If you go to the beach again, wear a lot of sunscreen on your shoulders and make sure to apply it again when you get out of the water.

Because it tears the skin and then it is prone to infection it is better if it falls off naturally it is better if you don't go in the sun if previously burnt as your skin is more sensitive so take care

In my extra mechanical days, i might were extra inclined to accept as true with LC, considering the fact that i have used historical white socks smeared with triple antibiotic and secured with EB green (Nuclear Grade Duct Tape) as a "poultice", however most effective due to the fact that my wounds have been a lot much less manageable (As in horrifically large!) in those days! Now, I ought to say, I now not raise a suture package, but readily hold a tube of tremendous Glue regional! ;-) reward God, He made me heal in a technique commensurate with the headstrong clumsy He also gifted me with!

You need to stay out of the sun...don't even get me started. If you could see the damage that even a few minutes in the sun causes. Your poor skin.
