There are other ways to locate scholarships online including one that Forbes actually reviewed it favorably and did work for me. It was a lot more intensive form than Fastweb's form. I did fill out the form at both places. It is located at Scholarshipexperts.com. However, I will mention other ways to locate scholarships.
First, fill out the FAFSA form because it will tap into state and federal along with the college's need based financial aid. It provides scholarships, grants, and loans. The form becomes available January 1 for the fall semester or quarter. This should be done to be able to get the most financial aid from the school itself and the state deadlines are soon, too.
Second, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major's website will list scholarships, too.
Third, the public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.
Finally, I recommend joining several free membership scholarship search websites. There are scholarships for a variety of things including ethnicity, clubs, hobbies, and even wearing duct tape to the high school prom. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information entered onto a form on the website.
Good luck!

fastweb doesnt give money, only contacts for you to apply for. if you didnt get awarded any, you didnt win the scholarship. thats all.
you will have to take the time to dig, find and write a winning essay. you will have many others applying for those funds, so write it such a way that you stand out.
try to aim for grants/scholarships more... they are not to be paid back. its confusing sometimes, but just keep applying.
every big (and small) company you see (manufacturer, orgs, corps and groups also) all have grants and scholarships they hand out like candy. Walmart, Kmart, Target, Coke, computer companies etc etc etc
heres a link with a HUGE amount of some available. some you will need to copy and paste into a new window. also, fastweb (take the time to fill it in) will search databases and get back to you with a list of scholarships you qualify for.
Also contact all mens, womens associations in your state, they almost always have grants & scholarships. What ever field you are going into, contact the orgs, associations etc for them; Also check with professional organizations related to your career interests, such as the American Bar Association or the American Medical Association. they also always have scholarships. Research and dig, call then write. Its all worth it.
OVER apply; it doesnt hurt to have too many, and the extra funds can help with housing.

Try www.scholarships.com
It's a search engine specifically for scholarships. It's completely legit and FREE. You need to fill out a profile so that you get a listing of scholarships that match your profile. Once that's done, the rest is done for you. You'll get a list of scholarships to apply for...and then it's up to you to apply for as many as you'd like.

When I was in college I used FASFA and Work Study. They give you both loans and scholorships and the interest rate to pay them back is very low, anywhere from 1 to 6 % . It saved me a TON of money.
