In Catholicism sexuality in marriage is to give couples an intimate way to express their love and bringing new life into the world. If a couple learns they are infertile, would sex then be sinful since its sole purpose would be for pleasure?

It is both, not either or. Therefore it is NOT sinful. A couple has to be "open to the possibility of new life". If they are not, they are in danger of sinning. That is why contraceptives are against Church law. They prevent one from being open to new life.

No it would not be sinful, and should still be practiced as the coming together of the two to form one flesh is still very valid and blessed within the marriage covenant.

no. You are forgetting about the intimacy of two married people. Besides, Abraham and Sarah had children, so God can will anything into existence.

My wife and I are in this similar situation.

Thoughts like that are why I think religion is total bunk. Our sexuality is biological yes for procreation but it also is for pleasure. There is nothing wrong with not procreating every time you have sexual relations.

If you ask the Catholic Church they will say yes because pleasure is sinful but I say go for it.
