I am 11 weeks pregnant and last week I went in for a check up at 10 1/2 weeks and they did an ultrasound. She showed me a "white sticky-outy thing" (to quote the ultra sound tech) and said that tends to be a boy. I had no idea that external sex organs could be seen on ultrasound that early in pregnancy. Does anyone know if it's really possible to see the sex of the baby that early?

When I went in for my 11 week ultrasound she told me that the the baby had developed its external sex organs already, but due to technology its just too hard to tell that early.

it may have external sex organs, but even girls early on have a large clitoris, and sometimes in very early ultrasounds it can be mistaken for a boy. i had an ultrasound at 14 weeks and they did no gender prediction at all. i found out at 20 weeks i'm having a boy!

They can't. The sex organs are there at that point, but you can't see them on ultrasound til at LEAST 16 weeks. A lot of doctor's offices won't do them and guess gender until 18-20 weeks.

There is no way they can tell at 10 weeks on an ultrasound of what the gender is.

i was told that when someone predicts a sex that early they usually mistake it for the cord..... i didnt find out until i was about 17 weeks.... good luck... just for fun maybe you should look up on the chinese chart to see if the tech perdict right....
