when they use thier own they take away a choice i think we have 3 main manufactuers at the moment if we carry on like this we will will ownly have ? unless we get taken over by an out sider and end up with one

Well, I'm not sure I understand the question. but if you're asking why when a firm buys a chocolate company, do they have to use their own recipe, instead of the original, then it may be because they didn't buy the recipe also, just the name of the company.

The answer may be simple economics.if a firm has been taken over then the first thing that usually happens is a rationalisation of the product range.If the company already has a similar product it may decide to discontinue the other(unless they have bought it for the reputation of the product eg,BMW buying the Mini).Also it does not make economic sense to use two different chocolate recipies.Certain products may also have been showing poor sales. again a reason to discontinue.
This unfortunately is a sympton of the ever increasing global economy, resulting in less choice from independant companies.
Look at the stranglehold the supermarkets now have.It is getting harder to find a decent Butchers or Greengrocers or locally produced food.Instead we have to make do with Bernard Matthews Turkeys.
