Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
The key is to not try to understand things on your own, but place all of your trust in God for His knowing what is best for you. That is an essential part of having faith in God.
Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
Galatians 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
All things are possible in life as long as we have the Lord leading us in life, and not us trying to go at it on our own. To go at things on our own is a sure fire recipe for failure. To lean on God for His help, we are sure to succeed in all things approved of by God.

You have to come to the end of your self or your own ability, step out on faith, and trust God. I can only think of examples in the bible where that is displayed. The best one is when during a famine in the land Elijah was told by God to go to the house of a widow woman to be sustained (1 Kings 17:9-16). She was about to fix that last bit of bread for herself and her son and then die but Elijah told her to fix a little for him first. She knew of Elijah's God and did so and God replenished the oil and flour it took to make the bread every day until the famine was over. The revelation is that when you've surrendered your all to God, He will make sure you have enough to sustain you until the time of plenty.

It takes a lot of discipline, staying in scripture helps while you are growing. It's a painful process, probably causes some to turn away. Sometimes, I'm so tired I feel like giving up but I can't. I know the end of the story and it's beautiful.

The strength you have, and the morality you have, and the work you do, USE IT TO SERVE OTHERS. Simply trust God with the end outcome.
Trust God to do the things that are beyond you. You can work and use the salary to support yourself, but you cannot control the availability of the job or unforeseen expenses. Trust God enough to tithe, that you will always have enough.
Trusting God does not mean that you have to do nothing for yourself, it simply means that you trust him with the OUTCOME. It means that you do not do morally compromising things because you "have to" to support yourself financially. You don't lie in court to "save yourself" from jail or false accusations, you tell the truth and TRUST GOD with the outcome, because you've obeyed him, he will take care of you.
See Matthew 6:33.

Well that is something that you have to grow into and it takes time. The scriptural term for it is to rest in God and the book of Hebrews deals with it in great detail. I think the best thing you can do is to spend time every day in God's word and in prayer and in time you will grow and learn to trust in God in everything that happens. It really is God's work to accomplish that in your life and all you need to really do is just rest in the circumstances of life and watch God work.

This is one of the biggest problems in our society today. Relying on "God" is starting to interfere with the social structure, and it's time it stopped.
Just the other day, I saw this woman on t.v. who stole a $1700 check because she said "God" would make everything okay. The victim took her butt to court and sued the pants off her.

I don't, because that would be my will. I pray on my hands and knees morning and night to take my self-will away, and to guide me in doing His will. I like to think it is progress rather then perfection. I try meditating to hear His answer to my prayers. I try to do the next right thing, and I pray, pray, pray to be a vessel for His works and to be a better person tomorrow then I was today.

Difficult isn't it?
This has to be done supernaturally.
You can't do it on your own.
I guess when you have tried to do it by keeping it within your mind and constantly trying to figure it out. You wear yourself out to the point that you are willing to let Him do it.
That for some is very hard and takes a long time.
