Abraham had two sons, Ishmael and Isaac. Ishmael became the father of the Arab nations.
Ishmael had a son named Jacob who the Lord called Israel.
Israel had 12 sons, one of whom lost his inheritance which was then given to the second son of Joseph. (Joseph's inheritance went to the first son.)
Israel and his 12 sons found themselves in Egypt because of famine in the land. Eventually, the Egyptians enslaved the people of Israel. After a while, God prepared a prophet, Moses, to free the Israelites from bondage in Egypt and became the 12 tribes of Israel.
After a while the 12 tribes began fighting with each other and split into 2 kingdoms. The northern kingdom had 10 tribes and the southern kingdom had 2 with Judah as the governing tribe.
Because of sin, the northern kingdom was conquered and those 10 tribes were carried off and dispersed among the world. Any of us could be descended from those tribes.
The other two tribes kind of converged into Judah and are now known as Jews.
So Israel (Jacob) was the father of the 12 tribes of Israel.

In general, the physical descendants of Abraham through Isaac and specifically, Isaac's son, Jacob, became ISRAEL, which means PRINCE WITH GOD, and his sons, including Judah, and the TRIBE OF JUDAH, which includes David and through him, Y'shua - Jesus - the Lion of the Tribe of Israel -- who IS King of Jews and will reign over this earth for 1,OOO YEARS!!!!
I don't have my bible at hand right at the moment, but just start reading from Genesis 11-12 when God first called Abraham and it will take you right up to Exodus when Abraham's descendants were all in Egypt and were brought under bondage to Pharough.

He is son of isaac(pbuh), son of abraham(pbuh). Jacob(pbuh) or Yaqub(pbuh). His sons are the ones that make up the 12 tribes of israel. One of them being judah. Hence, there are jews. One of the sons of israel(pbuh) is/was a prophet. Joseph(pbuh) or yusuf(pbuh). The 12 tribes of israel(pbuh) are the ones that were lead out of slavery in egypt by moses(pbuh). The definition of israel(pbuh) is "struggled with the lord". His brother is/was edom. PEACE!
