Save Electricity
Whenever we use electricity, we help put greenhouse gases into the air. By turning off lights, the television, and the computer when you are through with them, you can help a lot.
Bike, Bus, and Walk
You can save energy by sometimes taking the bus, riding a bike, or walking.
Talk to Your Family and Friends
Talk with your family and friends about climate change. Let them know what you've learned.
Plant Trees
Planting trees is fun and a great way to reduce greenhouse gases. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, from the air.
Recycle
Recycle cans, bottles, plastic bags, and newspapers. When you recycle, you send less trash to the landfill and you help save natural resources, like trees, oil, and elements such as aluminum.
When You Buy, Buy Cool Stuff
There are lots of ways we can improve the environment. One of the ways to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that we put into the air is to buy products that don't use as much energy. By conserving energy, we help reduce climate change and make the Earth a better place. Some products – like certain cars and stereos – are made specially to save energy.

Anytime you conserve energy you're helping to minimize "global warming." as caused by CO2 emissions. Just think, how can I conserve energy? Ride your bike instead of the car. Carpool or take the bus. Get energy efficient things in your home like the light bulbs you mentioned. Turn your thermostat to colder in the winter and warmer in the summer. Things like that.
The funny thing is that everything you do will probably have little effect over the whole global warming situation. The burgeoning economies of China and India will add so much CO2 to the atmosphere it won't matter.

Conserve electricity (various ways)
Recycle goods
Use less stuff
drive a fuel efficient car- or better yet, bicycle.
Live close to work/school so you don't need to travel much.
Use public transportation
and for those of you who have 'faith' that global warming doesn't exist. 2500 scientists from 115 countries have just disagreed with you, and claim that global warming is a reality and it's caused by man- and that it is 'unequivocal'.
i.e. There is no reason to argue over whether it's a problem any more. Only what to do about it.

Get educated! Look into the motives of those who are trying to sell global warming. Otherwise just use common sense!

support greenpeace, recycle everything you can, change lightbulbs for energy saving ones, turn things off at the mains when not in use, walk or use public transport instead of using a car, solar power, buy groceries which have been grown locally (so there is not as much energy used transporting them from where they are grown), or grow your own, mke a compost heap in your garden for organic waste, use more natural household products for cleaning [such as lemon juice or vinegar] and encourage your friends and family to do the same
i'm sure there are lots of other things to do aswell.....

Personally, just try to use as little energy as you can, don't use a car if you can walk or get a train or a bus. Recycle keep electricity to a miniumum etc etc... i know it's frustrating that you cant make others do the same. But they'll have to. And remember if your in America, its the country doing the most damage, the government may deny it's happening but remember they're just trying to keep their oil money!!xx

Ten Basic Tips To Help Stop Global Warming
Don't have a lot of time, but want to take action? Here are ten, simple, everyday things each of us can do to help stop Global Warming. Pick one, some, or all. Every little effort helps and adds up to a whole lot of good.
Change a light. Replacing a regular light bulb with a compact fluorescent one saves 150 pounds of carbon dioxide each year.Learn more about these bulbs and how to properly dispose of these bulbs when they do burn out.
Drive less. Walk, bike, carpool, take mass transit, and/or trip chain. All of these things can help reduce gas consumption and one pound of carbon dioxide for each mile you do not drive.
Recycle more and buy recycled. Save up to 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide each year just by recycling half of your household waste. By recycling and buying products with recycled content you also save energy, resources and landfill space!
Check your tires. Properly inflated tires mean good gas mileage. For each gallon of gas saved, 20 pounds of carbon dioxide are also never produced. Learn more about driving less and driving smart.
Use less hot water. It takes a lot of energy to heat water. Reducing the amount used means big savings in not only your energy bills, but also in carbon dioxide emissions. Using cold water for your wash saves 500 pounds of carbon dioxide a year, and using a low flow showerhead reduces 350 pounds of carbon dioxide. Make the most of your hot water by insulating your tank and keeping the temperature at or below 120.
Avoid products with a lot of packaging. Preventing waste from being created in the first place means that there is less energy wasted and fewer resources consumed. When you purchase products with the least amount of packaging, not only do you save money, but you also help the environment! Reducing your garbage by 10% reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 1,200 pounds.
Adjust your thermostat. Keeping your thermostat at 68 degrees in winter and 78 degrees in summer not only helps with your energy bills, but it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions as well. No matter where you set your dial, two degrees cooler in the winter or warmer in the summer can mean a reduction of 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
Plant a tree. A single tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. Learn more about planting trees here. Use your yard waste and kitchen scraps through composting.
Turn off electronic devices when not in use. Simply turning off your TV, VCR, computer and other electronic devices can save each household thousand of pounds of carbon dioxide each year.
Stay informed. Use the Earth 911 Web site to help stay informed about environmental issues, and share your knowledge with others. Together, we can and do Make Every Day Earth Day!

Try not worrying about it. You cannot save the planet, and you cannot harm the planet.
Just don't build a camp fire in the California high desert during the dry season.
