I have 2 cocker spaniels and a basset. We have a fenced in back yard, but currently they are in a 10 x 10 pen during the day because they dig really deep holes in the yard when we're not home. I let them out at night to run, then they come inside to sleep. My husband has concrete set the posts to section off the back corner of the yard to allow them a 900 sq ft triangle section to run and play during the day, so they don't have to be in the little pen. I currently have a wooden pallet, water and food, a few chew toys, a rain cover and a dog house with a flap in the little pen. With the extra room, I could incorporate some "fun" things for them. I was thinking maybe a baby pool for the hot summer months. Does anyone have any ideas? He will be adding the chainlink next weekend, so anything big needs to be added before that.
Thanks for your help. Sorry for the long post!

the pool is a great idea as long as they have heartworm medication and you clean it out every day... one thing that my dogs love is when i buy them stuffed toys they love ripping them to bits and i dont have to through it like a tennis ball a few of those and you dogs could play tug of war together...
also they have very large yoga balls that my dogs had a blast with they would run and tackle it and stuff... i like hiding treats around the yard so the dogs can find them too

get some chewwie toys or rawhide bones for themtoo and blankets to snug up in

its so good to hear a plan for a good life for three dogs your animals are lucky to have such good owners

Add a sand pit just for digging. Bury some fun toys so they know its ok to dig there.Discourage digging anywhere but the digging pit. A kiddie pool is a great idea.

How about a sandbox that they could dig in; that will help them to redirect their digging activities to a specific area. You copuld bury toys and treats in it each day to give them something to search for.

Be careful if you set up a pool for them; don't leave them unattended with it.

A baby pool would be fun. THey would probably enjoy a tree for shade and to pee on.
Sounds like a good set up though

baby pool is great. you should also set up a little obstacle course for them too. my sis inlaw set up a swing tire and those pole things. also, if you want them to keep digging, maybe a pit area.
