My family does the same thing..even though I yell at them not to! lol. It's bad for the dog to eat human food. It's like a human eating dog food..it's not good.
Some Ok things are:
-crackers
-bread
-cooked turkey/beef
-vegtables like carrots, cucumber (cut up)
-fruits--anything not to tangy or citrusy
Some bad things are:
-Pork! It will give them worms
-Cheese-bad for stomach
-tomato sauce-too acidic for their stomachs
-milk
-chocolate--high concentrations could kill them
I don't recommend feeding a dog human food but it will not hurt them to feed them s piece of bread or something like that.

You know, it's not really the food that's the problem. It's that it's not a complete meal. A dog that's being handed food from everyone in the family is probably getting far more calories than it needs and is often getting leftovers (like that trimmed fat off the steak) which is not healthy for anyone to make a consistent diet from.
It has been postulated that dogs become lactose intolerant when they get older, however, i have not found diarreah to be a significant problem when feeding small amounts. Large amount go back to the too many calories and not a reasonable diet issue.
Avoid grapes and raisins along with onions and garlic as they can be poisonous to dogs.
Then set limits as to treats in a day. Like, everyone in the house gets to feed the dog one treat per day (no cheating!) and you reduce the amount of food you're feeding to take the extra calories into consideration.
Really, in many cases like this we're pampering our dogs to death. it's not healthy for either us or our dogs to snack on junk all day. it makes us fat and tends to make our diet heavy on calories and light on stuff that's good for us.

Really, a dog's consumption of human food should really be limited. I'm going to guess that cheese, at least not in excess, would be a very good choice for a dog's digestive system. Chocolate is a definite no-no. I'm not an animal expert, but I'm sure there are many other foods that should be off limits to a dog. Not only that, but an overweight dog is a very unhealthy dog.
I'd double check the grapes being poisonous that someone else stated - that was usually a favorite treat for our lab when I was growing up and he suffered no ill effects from it.

dogs should get a good brand dog food. And even with you parents feeding the dog table food, it should not be eating just any people foods, there are things that are not that good for it. but when my grand-mom had a dog she fed it from the table and it lived a long time. and my mom fed her dog both. and l fed my chihuahua both and she is 20 years old. ans there are some dog food out there that are killing dogs to an early grave. So l think that you should do a little studying on that subject and show your results to your parents. but you may surprise about what you learn

Cheese is ok in moderation. If your dog is getting lots of extra treats then you'll need to cut back on regular meal portions. The best thing would to cut out all extras but some people can be hardheaded. Stay away from cooked bones, grapes, onions, junk food like chips and pizza. Meats and veggies are ok-again in moderation.

Dogs need dog food. They have different needs than people do. Dog treats are the best to give dogs yet I admit my dog loves cheese bits and chicken breast. The smaller the dog the smaller the treat. Overweight dogs have some of the same problems any overweight person would have. Starting with joints, diabetes, kidney and liver problems. It is good to love our pets, just don't love them to death.

That poor dog. Dog food is very bland and easy to digest for a reason.. people food is harder for them to process. Some dogs can be lactose intolerant.
Chocolate, grapes and onions are poisonous to dogs.
I think in this case, spoiling may be actually hurting the poor pup. Time to talk to the family about good practice of dog care.

Dogs shouldn't eat people food. Period.
Dairy products should not be fed as well as chocolate and a lot of grains.
Stick to feeding it high quality dog food (royal canin, neutro etc.). This will help it live longer with fewer health problems
