Workin on my playlist! I have my father/daughter, first dance, bouquet toss, etc songs figured out, now what I need is the filler! What songs make you wanna get up and dance? I plan on having a lot of the YMCA, Cha Cha, electric slide, chicken dance sorta stuff, what other ones have pre-made dances? (gonna have a lot of older un-coordinated folks who would enjoy the direction!) but what songs are good? preferably up-beat please!

Also, what do you HATE!? I am already ruling out anything Justin Timberlake or Beyonce, but beyond that what would make you wanna run for the door?

At my wedding, we had songs like "margaritaville", "achey breaky heart", old school stuff, and "macarena". Play an assortment of stuff that the majority knows. After a couple of drinks, it won't matter whats playing, people will be dancing and loving it!

probably coincidence. The bride and groom should really pay more attention to what songs they want played or what songs are on the do not play list. I think that most people just let the dj do whatever they want and then end up with a crappy selection, break-up songs or horrid things like the duck/chicken dance. Just keep this in mind for your wedding!

I love the electric slide.

You could also have - the macerena, try salsa music (its fun and easy), if your into any country music there is the Achy Breaky Heart Dance..lol, the Hokey Pokey.

One artist I really hat is Pink - at every wedding that song "get this party started " is playing and I think it is really tacky and over rated.

The worst songs for me, and will definately be outlawed at my wedding are:

YMCA
Celebration
Chicken Dance
ChaCha Slide

For me, they are way overplayed, and not any fun! For me, that is!

Regarding what to play, it depends on what type of people you are having at your reception. During dinner, play some very nice Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Norah Jones, etc. During dancing, play music that is going to suit the type of music that the audience likes. Mostly it will be the oldies....if you have ever been to a bar that plays "bad music night" those are the best songs...because everyone LOVES to dance and sing along with them. Also, do a request for the DJ...that will get people going, too! Swing music is always fun, too!

I hate the Macarena.
Throw in a polka song for the older folks. I know a lot of people don't like that kind of music but the older crowd at our reception got up every time.

I hate The ChaCha slide...and achy breaky heart. God, 1991 all over again with that one...
I know the receptions I've been to, everyone loves songs with a BEAT, like Jay-Z, and Beyonce, maybe some techno.
