hey all, i have a 2004 chevy silverado ex cab. im installing 2-12" kicker comp c-12 in a box under the seat of the rear cab. also, i am puting in 2-6.5" rockford fosgate t162c in the front doors.
the 6.5" will be powereed by my car stereo, a kenwood dpx-301 50wattx4 (22x4 rms). the subwoofers(150rms each), will be powered by a kenwoodkac-9103d mono powered amp. the power output is 900w rmsx1 @2ohms, 500w rms@4ohms. what i was wondering, is what is the best way to hook these subs up to the amp? would it be better to do it paralell? or should i have in bridged?

My first sub was a kicker comp 12", I had a 900 watt amp powering it, and it sounded awesome man. With 1 12 in my S-10 I out bumped someone with 2 15's in the trunk!
As far as having 2 much power for them, just turn the gain down on your amp all the way when you first power it up so you don't blow your speakers, but with this setup you should get some serious sound.
If you want lower bass, go for bridged. You will get a greater response from the speakers in this mode. I don't see heat being a problem with this amp being as big as it is, if you get problems with overheating causing amp to shut down, switch to parallel.
I was just reading on kicker web site that with the right enclosure the speakers can more than handle the full load, yours being 300 watts a piece, also adding poly-fil stuffing inside the box will help produce greater lower frequencies......
Good luck with your project.

The amp:
900w rmsx1 @2ohms

The subs:
150rms each (300 watts RMS total power handling)

That amp is too much for those subs and you could very easily blow them.

Either get subs that are 450 watts RMS @ 4 ohm each and wire them like so http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/sparky3489/PARALLEL.jpg to your current amp

-or-

Get a mono amp that's 300 watts RMS @ 2 ohm and wire your current subs the same way. This is assuming your subs are 4 ohm SVC.

ok i see you have two amp listed and 1 at 800 watts is it 2 ch? 1200 vibe use it on the kenwood sub's... i would not use that powered EQ, just make more noise IMO get a passive EQ like a audio control or kenwood,PIONEER,sony... but if you must use the 300 power eq then u can use it on the 180 watt speakers...Again it would be a better sounding system if you get a 4 ch amp for you interior speakers...

What's the ohm rating on your subs? Need this to actually give you all the information you need.
