I assume by the fact that you are asking that you do not remember what firm or individual you used last year. Your first action should be to check the return itself; the preparer's name should be entered at the end of your primary form (1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ, whichever you filed).

If you do not have a copy of last year's return, you can call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and they may be able to retrieve the preparer's name for you. If the support agent can't tell you straight over the phone using the records that are immediately available, ask if a transcript would contain that information. If it does, they should be able to order a free transcript for you over the phone; otherwise, you can request one using Form 4506-T (see the first link below). It usually takes 7-10 days to arrive.

If the transcript doesn't contain the info, your last option may be to request a complete copy of last year's return for a fee of $39. Again, the agent may be able to order it for you over the phone; otherwise, you would submit Form 4506 (2nd link below). Be forewarned, however, that a complete transcript can take as long as 60 days. Good luck!! :-)

you should have saved that information but you can call whomever you took your taxes to and get the name of the person who did your taxes.

If you don't know who did your taxes last year, there's nobody who can tell you who that was.
