I have 2 cats, both females. One cat is pregnant with what seems like a small litter. We have found homes for many of the kittens and they are not even born yet. We are also planning on keeping any ones that do not find homes. So now that i covered myself for all the HATERS.. to my question

I have two female cats, the younger of the two is pregnant. The both get along ok, but since they are still young, they play fight alot. I know i will probably have to separate them when the kittens are just born, but what if she gives birth when i'm not home? Do i have to worry about the other female with the new kittens? the non pregnant cat is not viscous and actually is very nice and loving to small animals. She plays surrogate mama to them. Do i have to worry about her?

Female cats should not be a problem with newborn kittens. Male cats will try to kill kittens, but I've never heard of female cats doing that. Mine never did anyway, but one of my male cats did. If you're concerned, it might be a good idea to keep them separated when you're not home. You should have clues when she's about to go into labor, though. She'll start hiding in dark, cool and dry places. Mine used to stay under the bed or in the closet in the days before she gave birth.

If you want to be on the safe sid then when you know the cat is in labor then you could put the other cat in a different room, whenever you leave the house. Then when you are there the other cat can come out again. We have a kitten right now and she is always in a room when we leave and she always does not mind, she sleeps most of the time anyways. That is good that you are getting her spayed right after the kittens are old enough. Good luck with the kittens. You are sure to have a lot of fun raising them!

*Hope I helped*

If you are that worried then as your prego cats time nears keep her in a closed room when you leave. Once they are born let your other cat in and see how she reacts to the kittens, if all is good then allow her to be another mom to them.

I think cats communicate some, and it is possible the other cat will be nice. I think if both are female you have nothing to worry about,

No! I'm in the same situation, my two cats love each other and I know they will do fine with each other. And remember if the mother cat feel that the other cat is bugging to much she will let her know. Everything will be fine. Congrats.

no you don't have to worry about the other cat if they get along. But please spay your cats.
