The tiles are mosaic travertine, marble tiles. They are about 3 inches square and come in 12 inch squares. We have about 4m square to tile in total and have a good quote for all materials already. There is limited cutting around sockets etc. We've been quoted £300 which includes grouting and sealing but I think that's a bit excessive. We live in Sheffield, so don't expect London prices!

???? £300 for 4m. sq.????

You must be joking - you're about to be ripped off.

For £300 I'd come down from Scotland !

Get another couple of quotes.

I'm not certain the difference in costs between the US and the UK. But, I think 300, might seem a bit much for only 4M. How much of that is materials and how much is labor. Having someone experienced will save you $, as much as time, since they'll know how to do it right and how to do it quickly. Get a few more estimates and pick the one you feel knows the most about tiling. It's not brain surgery, so it shouldn't be too expensive. also ALWAYS make sure the grout is sealed, it'll be easier to keep clean, and will last a lot longer.

its a small job so you pay a premium , but I suspect in the present climate you could get the job done properly for between £150 and £200
