1-800-USARAIL is Amtrak's number and is currently the only common carrier offering rail passenger service.

Googling Amtrak will get you there as well, but sometimes it's better to talk to someone when there are many questions.

I believe only one train a day stops in Lynchburg and that would be the Carolinian on its way to New York from Charlotte.
