I just found www.PrimeViste.com/indexfir.htm (Prime Viste Firenze - First Views Florence) and it gave me a great cafe suggestion (cafe Guibbe Rosse) but they are new - looking for more firsthand insights into the city. Any site suggestions?

Hi,, hmm,,, dont know about sites off hand.... try google look up resturants in florence,Italy....
One of the best is up from the Duermo... on the right ,, about 50 yards,, looks like a dump,,, has some of the best food for the best price in the city....
Price the leather goods before you buy them.. off the street.. the stores have set prices pretty much.. but are good..
There is a open market down from the Duermo,, and another across from the Post Office,, that one has the big brass pig,, dont forget to make a wish there!!
Check out the Michael statue of David,, and the Ponte de Vecco bridge,
Beware of pickpockets,,, they are all over Italy and very good....that includes cell phones, cameras, and purses and back packs..
Have fun and enjoy it, it is my favorite city in Europe!!!

I only know the main attractions in Florence / Pisa area , but a visit to the National Tourism website will help you with ideas, and an accommodation website directory of Florence will indicate where you should stay.

Unforrtunately, i have no ideas about Cafe's except the abound in Florence.

Here's a start .... i hope it helpful
