There is a girl that I would like to ask out, but the problem is that she is painfully shy around me. She is clearly making an effory to get over it, but when she says something to me she goes bright red and looks at the floor. Likewise if I try and ask her some easy questions to get her talking a little then she gets flustered.
How can I coax her out of her shell? What can I do to put her at ease around me?

Aries, you must believe this, I was very shy - I mean really horribly shy and if I fancied anyone I was even SHYER. In other words to go red and blush and all that means she is interested, so give her a lot of patience which I rather think you will, it will be worth it, as if she disliked you, she would be able to relate to you. Weird as it sounds, this is true - I went through it, but it took years to undo.

Tell a joke! Obvious answer but it's surprising how a good laugh can break the ice. Or do something funny that's self-deprecating and then laugh at yourself, she'll join in and put you both on the same level and should make it easier for you both to be yourselves, hope this helps. I'm just thinking of situations I've been in, in the past. Good luck

Take her out to the cinema or a show somewhere dimmed down where you can be close but don't have to talk much then slip your arm gently round her shoulder, maybe the experience of being close and sharing a drink, snacks etc' will make her more at ease in your company.. happy hunting.

Why not try writing her a note or an e-mail - tell her you know she's shy, but that you're interested in her and would like to ask her out and get to know her better. She might feel she can respond more easily if she actually knows that you really do fancy her. She might be feeling shy and nervous because she's uncertain about your feelings towards her.

Just keep being nice to her.
Give her little compliments and include her in conversation if you are out in a group.
You could also send her a little note saying how much you like her and you hope she likes you too. Or ask her for her e-mail address and send her an e-mail.
You sound like a really nice guy, I'm not surprised she likes you!!
There aren't may guys out there would go to this much trouble.

become good friends first. as long as u r being yourself round her she should open up.
show her your personality, joke about so shes not worried about saying something wrong she will also get to know u more. the more she's with u the more comfortable she will be round u.
maybe if u were to hang out with her while she's with her friends she'll bring out her true self, and eventually she'll no longer be shy around u!! :)
or... u could just make a move on her???

Just keep doing what you are doing - be patient with her and don't put her under too much pressure, just give her the time to get used to you and she will be fine. Maybe she is extra nervous because she really likes you too - well done for giving her a chance even though it might take some time.

I was shy before and I am afraid to talked to some guys. But one guy really bugs me and he keep on talking to me and didn't stop until he captured my heart. It was fun though. Now he is my husband already. He build up my confidence so much. So do not stop...try to ask her out all the time. Call her..hang out with her...Let her feel that you like her....Good luck!!!!

Yeah she does like you just keep talking to her, although it might be better if you two hang with other people and not alone tell she gets a little more comfortable with you, And after a while it might help if you told her how you feel,

Just keep talking to her, Eventually she will get over it. Once she sees that you like her and want to keep talking to her, she will get better about being shy. You should just go for it and ask her out. That should help her get over her shyness quickly (she is probably so shy b/c she likes you and wonders if you like her too).
