hi i had something very embarassing happen to me this weekend. my mom is really over protective anyway and always finds a way to embarassing me. me and my little brother went clothes shopping and she made us change in the same changing room and she stayed and helped. my brother is 9 and i can understand why he needs help but i am 13 and wear size 12 so i don't think i need help to see if something fits. what can i do?

just tell your mom how u feel. she probably doesnt realize that u have grown up, which is very typical of moms. let her know that u feel u can handle certain things on your own and changing clothes is one of them.

Yeah that was wrong for mom to do. My daughter wouldn't even
let me pick her clothes for her after age 9. And she doesn't let
anyone go with her into the changing room. Tell your mom
she needs to loosen up and let you change on your own,
probably for your brother too. It doesn't mean that she can't
be near the changing room but let you have a little privacy.

I am sorry that your mother puts you in situations that make you feel this uncomfortable. can you maybe talk to her and express how your embarassed without sounding like you are attacking her. The more calm you are with her and reasonable, the more likely she is to take in what you have to say.

I hope that she listens, because other than talking to her what really can you do besides taking more extreme legal action which doesn't sound appropriate for this situation.

well i think its wrong that you needed to do that with your brother. tell your mom that you can go in one changing room and your brother and mom can go to one next to you that way she is still around you but you can have privacy while changing your clothes.

Wow. Your mom really needs to give you some privacy. Next time see if you can grab another stall and say "I'll come out and show you when I'm ready".
