I am curious how many of you also reject that the earth moves around the sun and rotates on its axis. See, I found this site http://www.fixedearth.com/ and it made me wonder how many people think the earth rotating around the sun is still a "theory". Are these often tandem beliefs? (i.e. if you reject evolution, you also reject that the earth moves around the sun?)
That website just seemed really messed up to me because I thought we settled the whole Copernicus was right thing. And I'm curious what you guys think.

TG - I didn't say that the earth moving around the sun proved evolution. You obviously have a comprehension problem.

Creationist and Others: I'm not asking about evolution per se (you can't convince me that evolution is B.S.). The question I'm asking is - do you also believe the earth does not move around the sun? Do creationism and rejecting Copernican theory (now fact) go hand in hand?
By the way some of you are answering, I see you also have comprehension problems.

Lentz and others - I never said that I thought these two things had anything to do with one another. I'm not a creationist so I don't know what other strange things you guys might believe. I'm simply asking if people who believe in creationism also believe the earth doesn't revolve around the sun.
You guys are reading more into this question that's what's here.

Quite well said.
Let me add gravity to that, and that the earth is round. Apparently, because science discovered them, they must be theories too. After all, science can't be right, only god can. Lets just ignore all the technology thats developed from science.
Ridiculous don't you think? Why protest only some of science and not other parts just because you don't happen to like the way science denies your bible.

At the bottom of the page it mentions that this particular page has to do with "Kabbala". Very well has something to do with that particular belief I would think.
As to people not in belief about all sorts of things - no shock there. I have a friend who's grandmother came over from Mexico, had little if any schooling, that didn't think that men had ever been on the moon. She swore that it all was being done at the TV station and was fake.
Just because a person doesn't believe in evolution has nothing to do with accepting/rejecting what is rotating around the other. They are not tandem beliefs - while there very well may be for some that it is.
Simply put - the world is not all within the scope of absolutes within the guidelines set by just the scientific community. For no matter how 'right' a particular group of frame of mind within that community thinks that they are, evidence will come around that will either support or change a particular view. Such has been more than true within the scientific area of thought.

I have been blocked also. The same person who blocked @secretsauce also blocked me. She doesn't like it when her idiotic statements about evolution are refuted. I have also been reported and my answer deleted several times because those reporting me do not like it when I expose the lies they use about evolution. And it seems that it is impossible to get Y!A to reverse the deletion. For example, in a couple of cases the reporter had used links to web sites that used despicable arguments against evolution and I exposed them for being despicable. I tried to get my answer reinstated but apparently the hypocrisy of the deletion did not mean anything. By the way, it appears that my punishment for being reported is to have my avatar label as a Top Contributor also deleted. Added: @im: "You can be blocked from communicating with an Answers member, but you can't be blocked from answering the question of any Answers member. " Wrong! If the member blocks you, the question does not come up when you click on it. Instead there is a message saying you cannot access the question at this time. Added: @Mithroramir: "The big bang theory is the scientific creation story, but it claims that light cannot age (relativity theory) and yet it does age by virtue of the backround microwave radiation discovered by Penzias and Wilson. So which of these two mutually exclusive propositions is true? " You don't understand what the cosmic microwave background is. The expansion of space from the time of the big bang has stretched the original radiation to a much lower frequency. Big Bang theory held that the original radiation would have stretched by a certain amount and that amount was what was measured. That measurement provided confirmation of the Big Bang. You need to get your information from reliable sources (or is what you said just something that you erroneously came up with in your own mind).

Observation in real time shows the earth revolves around the sun. It is the simplest solution to our observations - a heliocentric solar system.
Observation in real time does not show evolution or creation.
No, these are not tandem beliefs. Many pagan cultures believed the earth was the center of the universe. The initial work done by Ptolemy and Aristotle... two atheists.

Scientific fact is relative. We were all educated to believe that there are nine planets in our solar system, and now Pluto has been disqualified as a planet.
Science does not seek the truth, only possible answers to questions. Every theory can be disproven tomorrow, and reproven next week, depending on new evidence.
There was a time when a flat earth was considered fact, the geo-centric concept of our solar system was common knowledge, and the idea of interstellar travel was considered fantasy.
Science cannot be relied upon to produce facts, only theories.

I reject evolution and believe that the earth revolves around the sun. That's what I think.
The two are not in tandem and have nothing to do with each other. One is a theory that we evolved from apes, and the other is based on what we can see and measure. The latter is also backed by the Bible.

I don't understand how you can think that the two go hand in hand. I do reject evolution, but the idea that sun revolves around the earth has already been proven.

BECAUSE EVOLUTION IS NOT A FACT. SCIENTISTS CAN NOT ACCURATELY DATE ANYTHING PAST 5,500 YEARS AGO. THIS REST IS AN EDUCATED GUESS. THE FOSSIL RECORD DOESN'T SHOW HOW OLD THE ANIMAL IS OR WHEN IT EXISTED, IT'S A GUESS.
AND THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION, STARTS FROM A RELIGOUS POINT OF VIEW. IT ASSUMES THERE IS NO GOD. NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY THAT IS A RELIGIOUS POINT OF VIEW, YOU CAN'T PROVE THERE IS NO GOD BY USING SCIENCE. IT TAKES FAITH!!!!!!!
WHY AM I TELLING YOU THIS I AM ALREADY TUNED OUT BY NOW

Evolution is a proven fact, but that does not dissuade those who, having made up their minds to believe in a useless fiction, are unwilling to let themselves be confused by anything as inconvenient as a fact. See reference for a discussion of the underlying psychology.

Christians believe in science. Its not science and basic laws that we dont agree with, its the fact that we came from nothing. That the human body just "came to be".
Science can be a good thing if used correctly. Its right alot of the time, and PRAISE GOD, he is the one who made things as interesting and beautiful as they are. We just dont believe that the earth came to be because of an explosion, a elephant, or whatever else it is that people claim. God created the heavens and the earth, the end!
