1) huskies are prey oriented dogs. no they were not bred to hunt but have a strong prey drive (no small animal is safe from a husky) so when you move..it attacks the shoe
2) huskies are known to have a nippy nature. no, I do NOT mean they bite. they tend to play often by using their mouths (like a hand) and LIKE to hold things.
you could try using a rope toy for the pup to grab instead of your shoe. whenever you walk in the house, carry the toy with you and offer it to the pup instead of your shoe laces/socks. eventually the pup will learn which is the better thing to chase/chew.
smart or active breeds take EXTRA training and LOADS more time.
PLEASE leash train your pup AS SOON as possible and NEVER let it out on it's own or out of a "good" fenced yard without the leash. "born to run" in the husky IS NOT an exageration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is what I recommend, as I am housebreaking a new pup as well....also 10 wks=) I think crate training is a MUST. It's not cruel and is a great training tool. Get a book and read up on it if you don't already know how to do it. You want to do it the right way! She shouldn't be able to have free reign over the house. I read a book that suggested until you trust the dog, keep it in one particular room. Once it goes without an accident here, then start introducing it to other rooms. Gradually work to being able to be in the whole house. You might try staying outside a little longer to.I find if I stay out long enough, she'll pee a few time. I can always tell when she's ready to go in cause she'll lay in a certain sport. Make the crate a pleasurable experience for her. Good luck!

LOL my puppy used to do that all the time. She is now 16 weeks old and the biting has calmed down somewhat. We were lucky because we found out that if she was biting our feet, she would stop if we waved a newspaper at her over her head. I guess the sound scared her or something. Otherwise you can try scolding your puppy with a firm "NO" (although some puppies, like mine, will just come back for more), putting him/her in his crate for five minutes as a sort of time out (that also works well), or holding his/her mouth closed for a few seconds while saying "NO" (this would also infuriate my little puppy). Puppies can also get cranky when they are hungry or tired, this was also a problem with my samoyed.

Good Luck and don't worry he/she will will grow out of it. All puppies go through a nipping stage. They're just trying to play and don't quite understand that we don't appreciate their efforts. I actually read that when puppies play, they bite each other an average of one bite per second!!!!

Never ever 'tap' or 'scald' the dog. Its only 10 weeks old its just wants to play, it needs to learn to play on your terms only though.

When he/she does it, stop walking and say "no" in a firm voice, not a scalding voice. Dont move again till the dog stops. Praise when he/she does stop, just say "good girl/boy" in a lighter voice. If he/she starts nipping your feet again simply stop walking and repeat. Eventually he/she will learn.

Always remeber to praise a dog when it does things you like, and ignore when it does things you dont.

your puppy is young still, there for she/he is very playful. My Shia nips at my hands when we are playing, it is just puppy bites.. no biggy. JUst tell him or her to stop be very forceful. but gentle at the same time. And just say "no teeth" or tap her on the nose just enough to make her realise that you don't like it and it isn't allowed. That should help i hope,

You have to be firm with a dog. Tap it's nose and say "no". While you and others here may think it's "just playing" a kid or perfect stranger might not and may think it's an attack. Curb this behavior now while it's managable or it may turn into a problem later.

I think because its at a young age, it just wants to play more. It will grow out of it. Maybe by really scoldig the dog and not just say "knock it off!"

'Cuz puppy is a baby and wants attention! Wear slippers and just be patient - when puppy outgrows this behavior, you'll miss it!
