Did you enter anything to warrant your winning of this "lottery"? If not then I would not go anywhere near it. They are also probably asking for some sort of handling/administration charge from you as well. If so don't give any information or you might find that you will lose £250k and maybe more as once they have your details they will clone your accounts and strip you barer that the day you were born and leave you so deep in debt you would need to win the lottery just to be able to pay it back. Burn it NOW

Look at the questions I have answered on this site in my info. There are so many winners there could not be enough money to pay them all. There is no International Lottery. This is a Nigeria scam. Yahoo/MSN, U.K. and Australian lotteries, football lotteries from the same counties, Global-Link, World Poverty, Microsoft, Free Lotto, which now seems to have it's own people answering gambling questions on this site claiming they have won which is a total lie, and hundreds more. I am a retired Police Officer that has years of experience investigating Internet scams and frauds. This is an old one. The common link to them getting your email is on line surveys. Yahoo does not give it's stock holders money away nor does it give it's email subscribers address's to lotteries. The only way to win in a lottery is to buy a ticket, if you didn't you could not possibly win. Here is the website of the 17 nation law enforcement task force that investigates cross border Internet crime. You may file a complaint there. www.econsumer.gov. Also go to www.ripoffreport.com and browse complaints and you will find many having the same doubts as yourself about these scams. Below is a typical scam and how they work it. They just go under a thousand different names. They are asking you to send a prepayment to collect your winnings and they want you to send it by a money wire service. Lotteries do not just pick your name out of thin air, and just so happen to have your email also. No Internet service provider gives their email list out to lotteries. If you did not pay to play you could not possibly win.

I get those all the time, when i am surfing the net, and what you should always do is just exit out of it. I know it is VERY tempting to fall into it, especially when they say stuff like, you won the lottery, and other magnificent prizes... But don't do it. (it's a scam)

It's normally a scam. They'll say you won something but once you call to claim the prize then they tell you that you would have to put up some money or follow some conditions that don't make it worth it.

This is a feeble attempt to "phish" you out of personal information. Do not respond to it. You may subject you, and/or your computer to hackers, and theives.

Be careful who you give information to, as it may come back to haunt you.

How many lottery companies do you know of, that are reputible, that contact you, out of the blue, to tell you you won something? You get my point......

Stevo.

It's a scam!
"YOU HAVE WON US$1,200,343!" (with your name personalized somewhere in the headline). This is usually followed by a request to send money (US$30 or more) either as "payment tax" or a "processing fee" before you receive your "prize money".

How can you possibly win a prize in a lottery you never even entered in the first place? These kinds of offers are deceptive and worthless. So be warned.

Not only do the opportunists who operate these scams deceive thousands of people and steal money from them under false pretenses, but they tarnish the integrity of the entire lottery industry.

These Notices are Cleverly and Convincingly Written, Certainly Deceptive and Utterly Fraudulent.

Apart from Lottery and Sweepstakes, there are also other scams circulating by mail and email. One of them is the so-called African "419" scam-named after a relevant section of the Nigerian Criminal Code.

The scams involve a number of schemes, all designed to dupe victims into shelling out varying amounts of money. The conmen typically send letters through mail, fax, or the internet, claiming to have acquired or inherited large sums of money, sometimes purporting it to be "excess government or bank funds". They seek the victim's help to supply a foreign bank account number to be used to transfer the "funds" out of Africa.

The victim is promised a huge commission in return. These offers are bogus and the victims are often duped into paying large sums in up front payments, purportedly as taxes or fees in order to transfer the funds.
