In Judges 19 a father gives his daughter be gang raped so that the people in his town will not rape his company, and she ends up dying for this. So he cuts her body into twelve pieces and sends it to the twelve tribes. Why would a God fearing man give young virgin daughter to be gang rapped? Why does this seem to be a common practice in the Scriptures Ex: Gen 19? Is it ok for Jewish and Christian Fahters to offer their daughters to be raped under certain circumstances?

Actually. You've just proved that you don't actually read the bible. Do you know what was going on in that time? I know the question is no.
First of all, no, it is not okay for Christian fathers to give their daughters up to be raped. Your asking this question proves your disbelief.
Now, for the meat of this question, during that time their were problems beteween the Isrealites and their enemies. Due to their disobedience to God, they were allowed to be punished. Much like a parent who's done all they could do with their troubled teen. They let their child find out the error of their ways.
(Assuming you read the book of JUDGES)
This old man who invited the levite, his wife, and sevants into his house was approached by men surrounding the area. These unholy men wanted the Levite Man. The old man did indeed offer up his daughters. The role of a woman was far beneath anyman. I don't know your race, but you should be able to understand that from recorded periods of slavery in the US. Slaves got their rights before a 'woman' did. That's why the daughters were offered. To protect the men.
You are wrong to assume it to be a Christian thing. It was solely a cultural thing. Do NOT confuse the to.

You also confirm your lack on Bible knowledge by comparing your views to Gen. 19. Didn't you realize that the sections you were speaking of were noting the same city (Sodom & Gommorah? Apparently, you know of the story. Sinful city that was destroyed. Remember who destroyed it? God. So if God destroyed this sinful city, why would he require his children to follow in the steps of those who lived in this city?

Your question makes absolutely no since.

You need to go back and read this again.

Judges: Chapter 19

A Concubine = A kept woman
( a live in girlfriend, 2nd wife )
went with the Man= ( her boyfriend ) to stay with her
Father for afew days. Then they traveled to a City.
They didn't know anyone there, but a man
saw them and invited them to stay in his home.
So they did.
That evening some men knocked on the door of the mans
home. They told the Man to send the visiting man out, he was a stranger to them. They wanted to be with him.
The The homeowner said No,
take my Daughter. The men said No, send out the man.
So the Man = Boyfriend, pushed the Conbine= his kept
Woman the girlfriend, out the door.
The men took her, and did what they wanted to with her.
The next day they found the Woman Concubines body on the door step. She was laying face down, dead.

The Man=boyfriend, took his Woman Concubines body
home, chopped her body into twelve pieces and sent
one piece each to the 12 Tribes of Israel .
They went to war killing almost all of the people in that
land. Some of the surviving men they made marry their
Women.

The point of telling us this story in Israels history
is so we can know how wrong it is for
Man to be with a Man.

A man would send his own Virgin Daughter out to Men,
then to have a Man go from under his roof
to be with Men.
Something he knows God HATES.

God hates the act of Man being with Man that much.

Gay people, no need to attack the Messenger
all Judgements are up to GOD.
But He has taken action before.

V= Peace

He was a prophet and she was His concubine. The virgin appearantly was offerred by only the concubine is mentioned as having been raped After having seen the damage done to the woman(she died), The entire nation of Israel went to war against the tribe of Benjamin because they would not give up the men who abused the prophets wife. I didn't read the passage just now but if I remember correctly many thousands of men died on both sides of this issue. So obviously it is not right for anyone to give their wife or daughter to be raped by anyone.
I Cr 13;8a

Remember that women did not have the rights that they do today.
Basically they were property of men for the most part.

I'm guessing this is some kind of metaphor, giving up a victim for the common good.

A good reason not to take it literally. Sometimes metaphors are extremely violent and over-the-top so that they make a point in a very blunt, strong way.

But I prefer the Greek myths, where every parent who hurts a child gets a blood curse, which means that divine vengeance will rain down on them (and their families, if need be) until the debt is paid. Sometimes they get a vicious punishment in Hades. Sometimes their family is cursed.

But they always pay. Gotta love the Greeks for exacting vengeance!

Another reason why you need to pick and choose what to take seriously. Some people take every single story as the absolute truth, some take some parts and call them "parables". Which parts are considered parables is up to the individual. Then there's the parables with completely opposing messages. That's why the religion can't get it's message straight.

First off the company was angels, secondly the book of judges is a book of history. The Israelites through out the Old Testament histories do things that are against God and face consequences for it.

ask a pastor or youth pastor or a christian schologist or christian counselour. nobody can understand everything in the bible, and these people can give you the best explanation possible. please dont think of the bible or God as bad because of this, their IS an explanation for everything in the bible. it is probably explaining something or a parable...read the rest of the verse and it might expalin it!

This was intended to outrage the 12 tribes to incite them to get off their backside and stick up for their religion and their family. The tragic mindless violence done to this girl on behalf of her master is indicative of the faulty reasoning in the Jewish faith at that time. This is one reason why Jesus turned their reasoning on it's ear because he actually stood up for women.

This is a difficult one. For one thing, she was cheating on her husband (alot). For another this is a continuation on the lesson of Sodom and Gomorrah about the Rule of the Desert (the taking in of Strangers and how their lives are always more important than your own or that of any member of your family!). This is in order to protect YOU or any member of your family that happens to be travelling. What if your Father and Mother were travelling and this happened to them? Wouldn't you want someone else to die in their place, which is exactly what LOT tried for his guests? This was a nomadic rule (and still is in some places) to protect people. However, this COULD BE the reason no one tried to house them off the street, the knowledge that the Sons of Belial (Devil) were out looking and they were afraid to guest someone, afraid it would COST THEM DEARLY. So, this lone man took them in, knowing the great cost.

However, they took the mans cheating wife (still not fair!) and basically KILLED her. She managed to crawl back to the door and place her hand on the threshold before dying. He placed her on the donkey took her home, cut her into 12 and sent her to the 12 Tribes as a SYMBOL OF THE RULE ABOUT TAKING PEOPLE IN TO PROTECT THEM AND WHAT BREAKING THAT RULE WOULD COST, IN EFFECT SHAMING THE ENTIRE NATION OF ISRAEL!

They did not kill the daughter, they killed the wife of the traveller.

Who knows. The Old Testament is full of violence. Put it into perspective. Those stories are literally thousands of years old. A lot of it is garbage too.

Just forget about it and move on. Before you know it the Old Testament will be completely meaningless and gone from the world.

Most people don't take that collection of books very seriously anyway, so it's not a big problem.
