After I read your question I came to a realization I never knew before...
Why do I have a supsicious feeling that this is somewhat related to Revelation 20:4?!?!?

I can't explain my position without pages and pages of proof text. Not willing to go into that right now... too much writing.

No, these were real people who had been declared righteous. I guess it seemed that all that work on the part of the Messiah YAHOSHUA should be rewarded with a signal display. I have always wondered why none of their names were recorded. Surely they included some well known people! I think maybe these are the 24 elders around the throne of YHVH mentioned in the book of Revelation. Don't let it scare you. The creator is great, and after the judgment absolutely everyone will agree that He did the most generous loving thing He could do. That is awesome!

When Jesus rose from Hades and was resurrected, He brought with Him the spirits of all the faithful departed that were awaiting His appearing (see Luke 16:19-31 for a picture of the afterlife before Jesus' death and resurrection). Apparently some of these, probably those most recently deceased, were resurrected together with Jesus before His ascension into Heaven. Nothing further is told us about these in Scripture. See for further consideration Ephesians 4:8,9; I Peter 3:18-20 and 4:6

Jesus was the only dead that arose'
from my understanding, the rest is yet to come.

As far as zombies are concerned, think some movie potentate
observed college students after a week of finals prep, or some
shiftworker working 16's, and thought it would make a good movie.
(neither of these groups of folk are very sociable)

No, I don't think that's where zombie movies come from...

However, I always thought this was interesting, as each of the first four books of the new testament have something different to say about what happened up to and right after Jesus's death.

Of course, the other books don't say that this didn't happen, but it's a pretty odd thing to omit. It doesn't affect my faith any one way or the other, at any rate.

At the time of the crucifixion, the followers of Jesus thought that the Kingdom of God was about to be established. One of the things they expected to happen was that all of the dead saints would arise from their graves. On the nights after the crucifixion some of these followers thought they saw ghosts lurking in the streets of Jerusalem and mistook them for these expected dead saints. That's how this story originated.

I would say no, since there was no technology to make movies at that time.

And if the dead arose from their graves, it is because they were alive, and not dead, therefore not zombies.
