Because when we kill an AQ operator we also get hold of items of intelligence value. Such as his cell phone, computer, documents etc. If we announced this success then the rest of AQ would know that this information has been compromised.

Another reason is because AQ has a problem with members 'quitting' the organization (usually with large sums of money). By not announcing his death or capture then AQ will spend time and resources trying to find the guy.
