I have never given a hateful answer to anyone on here, but it hurts so much to see so many people actually try to discredit God by minipulating things they don't understand. And I do understand a lot of the folks are very intelligent, more so then I i am sure, but only worldly intelligence. Is it that hard to believe there is something morepowerful, more knowing then yourself. I apoligize if I sound frustared or rude I just get so tired of people acting like they know more then God or that He does not exist. I just pray that one day he touches your heart in such a way you cannot ignore Him. As for the amputees thing, God makes His decisions and they are what is best for us, yes even cancer and all the other terrible things, He wants to get through to us we just close ourselves off. You will all be in my prayers and I love you, all!

"Discredit God"? Do you know how backwards this reasoning is? How can something be discredited if there's no proof it exists? You are the one with the burden of proof, since you believe in him.
The Bible has been "manipulated" itself more than anyone's criticism of it I've seen on here. It often contradicts itself:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_contradictions#Specific_textual_inconsistencies

Why are you tired of people "acting like God does not exist?" learn a little tolerance and be smart and confident enough to stand up for what you believe in, or change what you believe in.
No one really cares whether or not you believe in God, why should you care when people excersize their right to say what they think?
Athiests don't care about offending God, or claiming to know more than he does, or being "blasphemous," because he doesn't exist and there are no repercussions for these acts, in this world or another.
Many athiests come from Christain families. I know I have seen people in my family and some friends become weak, helpless, ignorant, depressed, and grief-stricken because of what Christianity teaches, and that is what offends me, not whether you beleive in God or not.

I understand how you feel. I feel the same way. I love God. I would never disrespect God. I feel like religion is terribly disrespectful of God. I do not deny your spirituality. I deny that because you read a book that you are some authority on the wishes of God. The bible paints God as angry and vengeful, a destroyer, that God is a man, a jealous controlling dangerous abuser. Like a man who beats a woman into the hospital and then says "baby I love you, I'll never do it again baby. life will be paradise from now on" I can't think of anything more disrespectful of God.

You must understand that when you say that god gives us cancer, or takes away our limbs, it sounds pretty sick and crazy to some of us.
You are describing the actions of a madman.
Also, there simply isn't any reason for us to believe in god. It's not that I'm glad there isn't a god...truth be told, sometimes I wish there were...it would make things a lot simpler.
But there isn't.
Don't be offended by others who think differently than you do.

It's not about tearing anything down.

It's about countering a group of people who (1) think that only their way is correct, (2) any other way is evil or misguided, (3) they have the right to shove their way down own throats, and (4) they cry "persecution" whenever they don't get their way.

This is essentially the same mentality (although not the same individuals; centuries have passed) who have committed numerous acts of genocide and cruely to get their way, and any decent people who care about this planet and its occupants should feel honor-bound to help prevent the next "holy" purge.

I don't think I do... (You'd have to check my answers to see). But as an ex-Christian I'm very clear on why I don't believe in God and I'm sorry, it isn't because I find a being greater than myself intolerable.

Amongst other things it was careful study of the bible, done as a believing Christian. And I know I'm not alone in that.

What exactly is it that you assume I don't understand?

People die for lack of knowledge. Be thankful you believe and have compassion for others. Continue to pray for others because God does answer prayers! There is always going to be someone out there ready to tear you down. Don't become discouraged. I always say "Those who don't believe ....well let them be on their death bed and many of them will be crying out to God to help them." And to those who humor themselves in making fun of others. "What goes around comes around" There are some who have nothing better to do than to post negetive thoughts. So don't stress the small stuff.

I often feel the same way you do. The fact is, I didn't know there was so much hate and unbelief against God until I started answering some of the questions here. People can say what they want here but I doubt many of them would say much of the blasphemous things that are said on this site publicly. You are doing right to pray for them. In the bible Jesus warned us that since the world persecuted Him they'd persecute us. We are just to pray for them and hope that God will have mercy on their souls.

Ignoring is not tearing down.

Challenging the aggressively expressed opinions of others when I disagree with them is a different thing altogether.

What have amputees got to do with this topic?

I do not believe in yout God - how does that harm you and your faith? Or your God?

We don't "act like" god does not exist -- as far as I am concerned, there is no god; plain and simple. Is it so hard to believe that you're in this alone; that there is no big sky daddy who will make it all right for you if you march to his drummer and hate who he hates?

Not all arguments against belief in god are valid it is true, but I have yet to see one FOR that has *any* validity at all.

Did it ever occur to you that perhaps, rather than trying to "discredit God", they are pointing out that the entity in question (character in a book, etc.) can't possibly BE God?
