I ask because I constantly read that Islam is a religion of peace and that Muslims who preach otherwise are not being true to the religion, or its tenants. What can Muslims do to wrestle these teachings from the Mullahs that profess to be teaching the will of Allah?

A moderate Muslim movement should be created which actively asserts its beliefs. There are many moderate muslims, but as always, the fundamentalists are louder. If Muslims start putting out videos and newsletters encouraging peace and kindness instead of hatred and war the tide of feeling against Islam can be turned back.

It's amazing how Islam is a religion of peace, yet you never hear from the silent majority.

That's one awfully quiet group isn't it?

Muslims don't seem to be interested in wrestling their religion from their Mullahs. They seem more interested in blaming the US and Israel for causing their hatred.

After 9/11, many of the "moderate" Muslim leaders who spoke and flattered themselves were on watch dog lists as possible extremists.

I often see the Muslim response as....look at all the evil Christians. My response is....I hate them too. There are just lots of other Christians that actually address the fundamentalists. I don't see too much debate about how to handle extremism in the Islamic community. I just see arguments over which extremist branch is the right one.

When Saudi Arabia is praised as a moderate Arab state, there is a problem.

they are killing themselves at 50 to 100 a day.
If they stop we will have to continue to deal with some of them.
