I've been to Wallmart, Wallgreens, the PO, the civic center, camera shops, AAA and mail centers and no one will provide a canadian picture because of the "Photo Taken (and date) stamp they require. Do I have to go to LA or SD to one of the consulates? I'm at a loss.

I should add that I'm a Canadian Citizen living and working permanently in the US and just need the picture. I have all other documentation for the passport but this key item.

Oh, how I remember this problem (before becoming naturalized, I had to renew my Canadian passport from the US). I eventually got it done at a private photography studio.

Check your phone book and call around. Also, there may be a Canadian consulate in LA, you could try calling them and seeing if they can make a recommendation.

Unless your sponsor or declarey is a Canaian citzen or a doctor, lawyer or holds a degree like a CPA, CGA, then yes, because of the push here in Canada for passports, they are running 4 months behind, I do not have a sponsor or declarey, and so I must wait as I am not a proirity, I have had submit birth certificates, baptisimal and christening papers, school records, all my personal papers and had to go to Hamilton for 4 hours to sit and wait to see a rep, how than told me not to hold my breath, it may take up to a year.

Call or e-mail them first, get the info before making a long trip to any Canadian Consulate or embassy, you will have take at least 4-8 hours of waiting and paper work, so make sure you have everything before you go to speed up the work, if you are an American or ex-pat looking to get back into the country you need one to fly, if you go by bus or Amtrak you can get in or back with just I.D, they won't require one for that entry until 2008.
