His physician should recommend a professional for psychiatric testing. This should most likely be covered by his insurance provider.

All the best.

Most kids that are diagnosed with learning disabilities are no more learning disabled than the star pupil in the class.

There are exceptions that require special care, and it is important to differentiate between the two.

If a child sits in front of a television set for several hours every night, and has parents that are not concerned as to their performance in school, then they can get diagnosed 'learning disabled' when all they really need is a kick in the azz.

I would definitely get a second opinion - check in your local yellow pages for child psychologists or anyone that specializes in child development. You might ask the school if they recommend anyone, but they may or may not be much help.

A psychologist can be brought in to do testing. Look up your local mental health clinic or have your kids school refer you. You can also see your pediatrician and they can refer you. Good Luck!!!

Local child development centers, or one step further, psychologists have testing to determine such things.
