I think that he is in the wrong in this particular case. He should be more observant of your bussing patterns so that he is aware of what tables have been taken care of, and which ones still remain. Try to remain friendly towards him despite the unnecessary attitude....you still work together and it's better to have a neutral working environment.

Explain the situation to the manager. Then ask the manager to not say anything but observe the situation and occassionally take note of what work is and isn't getting done (and by whom). Then if he does not tip out to you claiming you didn't bus his tables you can confront him with the managers support (pending of course that you were doing a good job).
If you approach it in this manner the manager will likely think highly of you from the start. Because you aren't just outright complaining but asking for assistance following observation of the situation.

he sounds like a jerk . i suggest that you write down in detail what he says to you and keep that as a record. i would then inform him that in order for the restaurant to work each person must do there bit and not complain about the others.
if he fails to correct his error you could then supply your boss with the notes of the conversations he has had with you .
failing that i would just spill some boiling water or better still hot grease on him one day. that is a good way of getting people to leave.

Some guys have a problem with women in authority over them. He's probably just being rude. Tell him that he can either bus his own tables or tip out to you. It's his choice.

Is he your supervisor? this sounds like harrassment to me. He is not permitted to talk so rudely to you. Ask the manager for a copy of their harrassment policy. If this type of issue is covered, then tell the smartie that if he does not change his attitude you are going to report him for harrassment. Life is too short to put up with this kind of you know what.
