Some people get married within months, others not for years. But if you both love eachother and have talked about important issues such as where to live, if you will have kids, religion, money and so forth go for it.
My only concern is that your reason to get married is "just to make it legal." I'm not sure what this means -- to have sex? But hopefully this isn't your only reason for getting married. Marriage is a huge committment and it's always a good idea to be sure of what you are getting yourself into.
As far as getting married in August, I would think six months should be enough time to plan a wedding as long as you get to work right away. Or you can have a small ceremony and renew your vows later.
Good luck!

Is it too early in the relationship to be getting married?
Only you can answer that question.
As far as getting re-married..... a vow renewal is as sacred as any first wedding & should have some significance & meaning to your lives, not that you didn't get a big wedding the first time around. The wedding industry loves this trend.
Have a big wedding or small intimate wedding in August.

Go ahead and get married and then forget about the big thing. My husband and I went to the Mountains and got married, it was beautiful. You don't need a big ceremony to commit your love. It really is just a waist of money and time. Use the money you would spend on a big wedding to buy something special for you to start your new life together with.

it is not too early. we got engaged after 16 weeks and married 6 months after that. If you are going to get married, say in August, why couldnt that be a big wedding? we threw a huge wedding (400+ people) in a 4 month timeframe for our son and his bride.... it was outdoor and formal and beautiful... i just wonder why it cannot be 'THE' wedding in august and would question that mostly. but if you are both of legal marriage age in your state.... it isnt too early

It's a little weird to get married, then have a big wedding later- will you be telling your guests you already got married, or will you deceive everyone at your big wedding?
Just have 1 wedding in August.

It's not too early if you are ready. But if you have a small wedding and then want a party later, why not a small wedding and an open house. That way, it's not strange that the "reception" is so late. I've known people that do open houses and it seems perfectly fine to me.
