When a heroin addict is being prescribed the methodone for heroin withdrawal it is very controlled, they are only given small amounts, and have to return to the methodone clinic almost daily to receive their doses. 3098 deaths were cause by methodone overdoses in 2004. In light of the recent deaths, in my opinion it should be outlawed as a painkiller.

Unfortunately, some people become addicted to methadone or take it with other medications, especially antidepressants in order to become "high."
