I am mortified that your employer has not warned you against this!!!!
There is a DEADLY spider that travels in banana bunches inadvertently and infrequently. It is called the Brazilian wandering spider. It is one of the most deadly spiders in the world!
The spider occasionally hides in clusters of bananas. The bananas are picked, put in a box, shipped to wherever. The spider hangs out in the box.
You *NEED* to:
1) Go to an Emergency Room ASAP and tell them all the details of what has happened and get treated. Call 911 or have someone transport you.
2) Notify your employer so you can (if you are in the USA) have worker's comp cover expenses.
3) If you are in the US, have your employer notify customs as to what has happened.
4) Get a lawyer if your employer never warned you of the dangers of spiders that hang around bananas.
Good Luck to you and God bless you!

In my early years, worked at Spratts Banana Factory opening the boxes.
talked to a few workers, one employee opened a crate and you guessed it a creepy crawly jumped out bite him, he passed out. The spider layed eggs in his arm (he had the spider in a jar and the scar to prove it).
1st idenify the spider and personnal health risks to you.
2nd claim time, money or expenses. So straight to the accident book (also complete a work diary - incase it goes to court).
3rd a work related injury is as serious if you are affected by it, people may convince you otherwise.

go to the doctors!IMMEDIATELY AND REPORT IT TO YOUR EMPLOYER
i worked in factory that imported bananas. and they had a few instances of spider and insect accidents
as you work in this type of work it is very important that you treat any bites or stings straight away due to the fact that the insects and spider could give you a bad infection which if not treated in the right way may turn out more serious than you think

I would definately go and see the docotor!!!! It could be a poisonous spider or you could have an allergic reaction - either way if your hand is swelling - it needs medical attention.

"Hey Mr. tally man tally me bananas, day light come and I wanna go home."
Go see the doctor and if he tells you to "put the lime in d coconut", run away.
Just kidding but you should go have it looked at anyway. You could have an allergic reaction.
