I exist because my parents made me. My purpose in life is of my own choosing. Therefore, I choose to live an enlightened life by which I can help to educate others. Your purpose will most likely be different.

well, for a person who reads the dhamapada, quaran, the bible or the vedas etc. I don't think they could answer this question without quoting from the book of life for that person!
It's not possible, for us to answer...we know why we exist; do you?
Good Luck with that!

First off if we "try not to get religion into it", why did you get "religion into it" by asking the question in Religion & Spirituality section. Secondly only the individual knows why they are alive or exist because such a determination is subjective and can be determined by the individual themselves with or without the help of religion. Why do you think you are alive and exist? I believe I am alive to perceive existence and I exist to be aware.

You may need to remind yourself that, as we know from our knowledge of human physiology, your heart beats 72 times a minute. Every time it beats, it does so with the the permission of Allah. The moment He withdraws that permission, the heart will stop beating and your life will certainly come to an end.
If you feel that there is nothing else to thank Allah for, then thank the life that He has given you---for, so long there is life, there is hope. Nothing in this world can happen without His Permission. Thus you need to rephrase your question dude!.

Hmm, well I think some are here to learn; that is learn to be whatever they are to become. Some are here to teach, taking those down the path to being better. Some are here to observe, not really learning or teaching. I believe this pattern goes on through out the ages. If you have ever experienced it; being around someone who may not be very old in years, but is very wise, you can almost see it in their eyes. They've been here (earth/life) before. I'm not sure if there is a "handsome reward" if you finish or if you ever "finish".

Besides our parents having unprotected sex, we are not here for any reason really. We don't even chose to be here, yet we are subjected to all the pain and stresses of life. Unfair, isn't it? Every time I contemplate this question, I get to thinking that life is a cruel joke at our expense.

to learn and to evolve on every level,
it took me a while to get the point you were trying to make with your question, you want original though and original experience, not just someone repeating what they have been told. sorry though i'm not sure there are any answers to that question that aren't generic by now, i mean its a very old issue

This is the fact and it cannot be told except in the context of religion: To know God, love Him and serve Him..and most importantly to know how much He loves us.

I think you are in the wrong section to ask that religion not be included in our answers. Bye now.
