In my house we cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, we eat salads, vegetables, eggs, fruits, we drink milk and juice, overall I would say we have a balanced diet. My boyfriends family is another case, for breakfast they SOMETIMES drink coffee, for lunch they barely eat (the amount I would normally eat gets divides by two people), and dinner is the same, they don't like salads and I really don't think a sandwich for lunch and for dinner is qualified as a good meal. Am I wrong to say that they are not eating right just because they have different eating habits?? The reason this irks me is because when they get invited to my house they devour everything! yet they are too lazy to cook at their own house....

No, youre not wrong, but I seriously doubt theyre going to change. People are who they are. They are set in their ways.*

I think you should consider carefully whether or not you wish to be involved with someone whose values are so different than yours that this should bother you.

I know exactly how you feel, I was once married to a man whose families habits were entirely foreign to me. They were a lot like the family you are describing.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying your way is right and their's is wrong. That is what is so facinating about humans, we are all so different, and we all have the right to live as we wish as long as we do not hurt others.

What I am saying is this: Take a good look at the other issues surrounding your boyfriend and his family. Make sure you can tolerate his and their lifestyle. things that seem minor now can become intolerable later. We like to kid ourselves into thinking that we can successfully ignore or CHANGE people when the truth is that people seldom change unless they truly desire to, and even then it is hard.

Think about it...............

Many people hate cooking - and some people are obsessed with keeping their weight down. My father-in-law (a control freak if ever I met one) used to say "You had lunch, you don't need dinner!" and his family had to go along with it. We used to fall out because I didn't do "plain cooking". My freind is similar (although she's sweet). She isn't interested in food. That's the way some people are.

I agree that they don't eat right, but I would not rub it in their faces, unless my opinion was asked for. In my husband's family, vitamins are a rarity and almost everything is fried, which is the opposite of what I would consider healthy, but then again, as long as they don't ask for my opinion, I will keep this to myself.

Right and Wrong are very narrow ways of judging things don't you think? It's their life and life choices, so you can think what you will but please don't voice this opinion out loud unless you want to open up a can of worms!

If you are upset that you cook for them and it's never reciprocated then just don't cook for them anymore.

Yes, you are wrong. It is NONE of your business how, where, what other people eat. If they eat everything when they come to your home, take it as a compliment. Otherwise, shut up and mind your own business.

I don't like to use the word "right", as a general rule. However, you are valid to say that they are not eating a balanced diet. Just because you are allowed to choose something, doesn't make it the healthiest choice.

What they eat in their home is none of your business.

If they eat the food you prepare them as though they really like it you should see this as a compliment to your cooking.
