I'm a Jehovah's Witness, we do not go to peoples home for money.

We are only their to share a bible thought about God's Kingdom.

If you are not interested, just be honest and say so, nothing you do, (naked etc..) will shock us. We have seen it all. We don't want to waste your time or ours. We are going door to door to find those who are searching for the truth. We follow Jesus instruction at Matt. 10: 12-14 "When you are entering into the house, greet the household; and if the house is deserving, let the peace you wish it come upon it, but if it is not deserving, let the peace from you return upon you. Wherever anyone does not take you in or listen to your words, on going out of that house or that city shake the dust off your feet."

All of our work is financed by voluntary contributions. No collection are ever taken at our meeting. Any donation from interested persons are used to further the worldwide work of Bible education.

Witnesses are not paid to go from door to door or offer literature on the street. Love of God and neighbor is our motivation to talk about God's loving provisions for mankind. The literature is printed by volunteers who are not paid, put spend there days working to help further the Kingdom message. So if you don't want the literature. Please refuse it and we will give it to someone who is interested and will read it.

Thank you.

You must have been in a coma for a while, as it has been over 20 years since they ask for donations. In this manner, when the IRS finally begins forcing churches to pay sales tax on their retail profits, there is not problem with interpreting whether money taken is a sale or a donation.

First, it should be noted that every church has tried at one time or another, even the Catholics, to do door to door preaching and failed. Even the Mormons can only get their young to do it and only as a requirement before marriage. Even the Muslims are trying it and failing. I have a brochure on their ministry work which specifically refers to the successful rates of preaching by JWs.

I was disfellowshipped in 1982 by the Corning, CA congregation for cause, but not the ones some ex-JWs want you to believe. As noted by the JWs above, the Watchtower does not have tithing. That is a practice of many religions of Christendom, Mormons, and Islam. All the witnesses have is a simple donation box in the back of the Kingdom Hall.

People think they have to be tithing because of how large they are, on an international basis. They also can't believe people work the printing plant or run the many levels of the organization without getting paid. In Christendom, most everyone from the elders in a church on up want to be compensated for their efforts. Those in the Governing Board of the Society live in the same two-bedroom apartments in the workers residential buildings as the plant workers. In fact, New York has been complaining about the new residential buildings. They want them to allow retail businesses to open on the first floor of the buildings bordering major streets, but they refused. If they needed money, they would act like every other religion and allow retail businesses to pay the rent to do business on their property. But, they don’t as they believe such things should be separate.

Finally, it should be noted that witnesses don’t actually convert, but revert. Their religion is an earlier form of Christianity, from the time when the Apostles were trying to spread the word, especially to their brethren who considered them to be a cult, going house to house telling people that the beliefs, rituals, and observances of holidays dating back hundreds of years were no longer valid. There were many well educated individuals in religion who could clearly prove that Christians were a cult, among them Saul of Tarsus.

No, I don't hand anyone money that comes to the door. I would suggest you put up a sign that says: No Solicitation, you should check but the pamphlets they leave could be considered solicitation, and if they leave it at your door, with the No Solicitation sign posted clearly and in plain view you might have something to go on.

I don't care for any religious (or so-called) group knocking on doors; if I wanted information I would look it up. I'm sure it's some type of a "right of passage" depending on the religion. But, frankly it's invasive and puts more people off than it converts.

First of all, I doubt that that would make them go away. They're more interested in proselytizing. Secondly, to give money to a group you disagree with ideologically would not be a good idea, as it promotes the very thing you're in conflict with.

I'd ignore them too.

Hi. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I can tell you, all we want is to share the Bible. If you do not want our literature, you could politely tell us. We are not out for money. I NEVER donate to something I don't agree with. It makes no sense.

Once I learnt what they were actually teaching, I could never support anything like that. They're not getting another dime from me.

On the point of littering -- they are getting really bad here in Ottawa, leaving four or five copies of a magazine in the ATM booths, scattered around bus stops and phone booths, etc. Then they mark it on their time cards as if they had been accepted by people at the door. It's really horrid.

I just tell them I already belong to a church and then close the door and they take all their paper with them.

Anybody should just be honest if they are a Christian and a church member. They should express that they are currently involved in their own church and are satisfied there... It is totally unscriptural for them to force themselves on you because ...like Jesus said...only those who are sick need a physician...if you are whole(having Christ) then why should they continue to pursue.

This is evident of the fact they are stuck on quotas and have set numbers they need to proselyte.

The bible is clear,..for by grace are ye saved and not of yourselves lest any man should boast...you can't earn your way into heaven..

I once chased off a Jehovah's Witness by having my half-naked boyfriend (now my husband) answer the door and tell them I was "busy".

They never came back!
