If you are feeling down and out, and don't know what to do to get out of that horrible state of mind, the following can help you considerably overcome this seemingly impossible hurdle to climb over:

Know that you are still in control. You control the depression, not the other way around. Letting the depression get the best of you will undoubtedly make it more difficult to overcome. Remind yourself that you are ultimately in control, and that this is a phase, and that it's not staying forever.

Talk about it. Keeping these issues and feelings inside may make them grow and get worse over time. Therefore, it could be beneficial for you to discuss this with someone, anyone that you trust and can confide in. Friends and family are there to support you in your time of need, and this is an issue where there is no shame into discussing it.

Go outside. Naturally, the environment and nature makes us feel better. The fresh air, the sounds of the birds, the trees, it has a positive affect on us. Take a walk outside, in a park, in a forest, and you will notice how better you will feel. When you are surrounded by the beauty of nature, you will instantly start feeling better.

Move around. The more you move your body, the better you will feel. Do some exercises, or any activity where you are active and moving, and you will notice that your mood will change. Most people that are depressed are people that lack physical activity.

Talk to your Higher Power. No matter what you believe in, take a moment to talk to your God, your angel, or universal spirit that you know is there and hears you. Pour your heart out, and let all your emotions out. Not only you will feel better, but you will certainly start understanding it all better and start getting the answers you are looking for.

Remember to never ever give up. Life isn't always an easy ride, but there is always light at the end of the tunnel; there is always sunshine after a rainy day. It's not the end of it all, and greater things are in store for you down the line :)

To get rid of depression it takes a lot of work and motivation this would involve seeing a therapist and possibly a psychiatrist if needed for meds there is never an easy fix! Nothing is worth having if you dont work for it.

Well if it is serious depression then you may need medical help but if your just in the pits right now i would say listen to some good music...not emo stuff. Be around friends. Just do things you enjoy.

whew weeee. this is a tough one. recognizing you are depressed is a great sign. not succumbing to it is harder. seek professional help if it's been more than a month. especially if you are not doing housework, avoiding things you normally like to do, etc. therapy and meds can and do work very well most of the time. it's when you try to do it yourself or allow other non-professionals to give you advise that it gets mucked up.

Hang around the people you love the most, and make you the most happy. Call a friend to talk it out and try to explain why you are feeling this way...

confide in someone and they will usually try to make you feel better ... dont fall into common escape routes that people take like over eating or picking up bad habits ...

do things you like, try to calm down ... i hope you feel better ... : )

i think you should talk to someone about how youre feeling i've been dreppressed before and i always talk and cry to my bff and i always feel better you should just let it all out instead of having it all bottled inside, that makes you feel worse because you feel like nobody cares but how is someone gonna care if you never tell anyone well thats what i do an i hope you just try it

You don't. Depression is a chemical inbalance in the brain. You can take medication to alleviate the symptoms.

Depression hurts, but you don't have to.

I'm not very religious, but I find that reading the Bible always helps. There's a lot of stuff in there that will make you feel better.
