I'm thinking of getting one for the summer (on my ankle). Not those silly kids ones that wash off. The ones that last 3 months or so. I've heard that people with pale skin (that would be me) experience more pain with this kind of thing. Is that true?? B/c I am a TOTAL wuss when it comes to pain!!

There was a period of time when places (hairdressers and the like) were offering 'temporary' tattoos which they claimed were like a real tattoo only would fade after a few months/years. This was basically completely untrue; what they were doing was permanently tattooing people, sometimes very badly, using equipment which couldn't be sterilised properly.
So, for guidance, any procedure which just involves painting something onto the surface of your skin won't hurt, will be safe, and will be temporary. Any procedure which involved using a needle is a real, permanent tattoo, needs to be carried out by someone who knows what they're doing, with sterlised equipment, and will hurt in the same way as any other real tattoo (which is to say it's an uncomfortable hot scratching feeling, but not all that bad).
I'd suggest you go ask the place doing these temporary tattoos what the procedure involves. If it's airbrushing or similar, then fine. If it involves a needle, politely say thanks but no thanks.
Hope this makes sense, and is helpful. Good luck!

Temp. Tattoos don't hurt at all. All it is is water and the tattoo. They cost 50 cent from a machine.

The best temporary tattoos are done using a technique developed for the movie Tattoo. They are done using alcohol based food colors (available at restaurant supply stores). You do the outline and then color them in just like a water color. Then you use baby powder to set the pattern, just like makeup. These will usually last several days, and can be washed off with alcohol any time you get tired of them. And the best part is they don't hurt at all.

i agree with the above poster - if you're talking about airbrushing or something, go for it, sure. if it involves a needle or anything penetrating your skin - AVOID IT like the plague. bad idea.
