In the First World War Italy was in alliance with Great Britain, France, Belgium, Serbia, USA, Japan.....
Of course Italian air corp fought in the same part of Italy....
Italy had various planes, the major part of land fighters were Spad and Nieuport(produced by Macchi) while seaplane fighters were Macchi M.5(or L.3).
We had planes like Ansaldo SVA.5. (but there are SVA from 1 to 10....)that was a recon/fighter/bomber, this was used also by French and American. It was used mainly as recon/bomber, but also as escort fighter for caproni bombers in long range missions. SVA carried about 50 kg of bombs.
But during the WW1 Italy did the best in the field of heavy bombers.
The manufacturer Caproni produced models like Ca30,31,32 (family Ca.3) and Ca40, Ca.42,Ca.43, (family Ca.4) and Ca.44,45,46(family Ca.5).
The Ca.3 serie was a medium-heavy biplane trimotor bomber, it was able to carry till 450kg of bombs, and the most powerful versions were able to perform a looping(I saw a photo in Caproni museum in Trento). Models of this serie were used in a large number also by American and French aviation.
The Ca.4 was a heavy triplane trimotor bomber, it was able to carry 1775kg of bombs, range of 700km , it was used also by USA, Great Britain, and France....it was larger and faster than Handley Page 0/400, and than Gotha G.IV
The Ca.5 was the evolution of Ca.3, it was biplane trimotor bomber, but this arrived quite late in the war, some of this were built in the USA on license.
