bail him out and have him ask the judge to leave voluntarilly, then leave and come back legally, otherwise he will have to wait 10 years before he can come legally!

First off, if your friend is here illegally - they already can be deported.
If they are a suspect in a felony crime and are attempting to become legal - such is going to have a negative impact.
If they are indeed charged, it will have a very negative effect upon them and very possibly bring about immediate deportation.
If convicted, not only will they have to serve the time in an American jail, they will also be jailed as they are released and turned over to the federal authorities for being here illegal. Possible to have to serve jail time for that - THEN deported.
It could work any number of ways. But with so little information - difficult to give a really direct answer.

If he is illegally here, that is sufficient reason to be deported (or jailed, then deported, if you read the law.)
If he is legally here he can be deported if he is convicted of a crime for which deportation results. He may only need to be convicted to a civil burdon of proof (preponderance of evidence) or some other level of proof less than the ''beyond a reasonable doubt" required for criminal convictions, if he is only being deported. Still, I would expect him to be charged first.

If your friend is here illegally, and somehow found out, YES.. they should be deported! It doesn't matter that perhaps a mistake was made in assuming they committed a crime

We need more information, but I don't think that simply being arrested will impact his application. Immigration would be looking at convictions.
