I love Santa Babara! State Street is always a favorite. You can shop, dine, drink, and see shows- its also right by the beach :)
They also have a great zoo that is small and has breath taking views of the city. If you like history and culture theres the Santa Barbara Mission, which is one of my favorites!!
Also go to the pier- get dinner and watch the sunset!

Be sure to walk the outdoor art show at the beach on Sundays, have a pastrami sandwich at the Greek Deli at 7th and State, check out Botanical Gardens (take a picnic lunch), tour the Mission, check out the view from City College and try to figure out how anybody gets any studying done with those views to distract them, see if there's anything going on at Earl Warren Showgrounds, check out those amazing waves . It's said that the waves only break like that in Santa Barbara, nowhere else in the world.
State Street used to be full of cool shops but it's all the usual chain stores now. Still some great restaurants and such, tho....

State Street is a big tourist area. There are markets, shops of all kinds, and clubs, theaters, hotels, etc... If you follow it long enough, it will take you right to the beach. There has also been a surge in wine making up there, so, a winery would be a nice treat. Have fun
